Synopsis

On his eighteenth birthday night, Lars McKnight wakes up to a horrifying new reality: his body is a monster. His bones reshape themselves, his teeth tear, and his blood turns into molten metal, all while his inner animal struggles to get out. With the national fitness test for new adults on the horizon, Lars knows he can't hide from his new reality for long.

"My Last Human Days" is a pulse-pounding, coming-of-age urban fantasy about what happens when your body betrays you, and the only way to survive is to become the monster you fear.

Note from author

I’ve always loved stories that feel like a secret. A whispered conversation or, in this case, a journal left behind. There's something intimate and powerful about reading a character's unedited thoughts, especially when those thoughts are filled with fear.

The idea for My Last Human Days came from a simple question: What if turning eighteen wasn't a celebration but a curse? What if the most formative moment of your life was the moment you realized you were no longer yourself?

Lars’s story is a deep dive into that terror. His struggle isn't just about a physical transformation; it's about the very real fear of losing control, of not being understood, and of being found out. The world he lives in is a reflection of the pressures we all face to fit in and be "perfect."

I hope you’ll find that even in the darkest moments, there's a chance to find your own strength.
