The Power of Optimism

This one is a "Highly Recommend". (see chart below)

If you're looking for a fresh take on the Isekai genre, you're in luck. If you're sick of OP MCs, edgelords, or both, then you're DEFINITELY in luck. I'm normally drawn to violent action stories, and rarely read outside that genre. But I'm glad I did.

This is a wonderful self-contained story about the power of optimism and selflessness in a injured, pessimistic world. Despite the high risk of a story like this meandering into preachy monologues or unauthentic character shifts, the story and characters are grounded, believable, and most of all wildly entertaining.

The action-packed, multi-chapter finale is tense, brutal, and one of the best I've read in a long time. The ending hits you like a truck doing ninety. And the closure! Oh the closure. Chefs kiss.

For fans of positive isekai, or for anyone interested after reading the synopsis, this is an definite must-read. There is a clever, well-written, uplifting story waiting for you.

- About Leroy Reviews:

*Note: Anything "Recommend" and up will get 5 stars because of the inherent limitations/realities of a numeric rating system.

Writing a story is hard. It is very, very hard. It is a quiet, unremarkable career most are unwilling or unable to add their plate. For those that do, they are routinely treated to a bland dish over-seasoned with failure and loneliness. But we keep coming back, hoping for that one piece that hits the spot, because no other dish will do.

With that in mind, I try to be fair. Here's my scale:

Absolute Recommend
- Extremely rare. This is a "no matter who you are stop what you're doing and read this", recommendation. Only three online novels have ever gotten one outta me. (Sky Pride by Warby Picus, Mother of Learning by Domagoj Kurmaić, and Shadow Slave by guiltythree)

Highly Recommend
- These are original, well-constructed, and very entertaining. They may not be flawless, but it's got that "shine" to it. Outside of picky eaters who stick to certain genres, these are crowd pleasers that you'll be glad you read too.

Recommend
- These stories tend to be written by new writers, or good ESL writers with bad translation AI. They're inspired and have a good hook, but can have basic construction or mechanics issues. They can also be badly-written stories by mental patients that are so wild I'm forced to recommend them. I'll usually let you know which one it is unless the idea of you going in blind amuses me.

Solid
- Decent stories, or re-writes of existing novels typically to fall here. (I can't tell you how many times I've read Mushoku Tensi or Supreme Magus) Stories with "building code" violations fall here. (Writers that don't have a grasp of the fundamentals, or stories that break rules/tropes without knowing how they work) There might be something here for some, but there usually wasn't enough for me.

Avoid
- I don't like to use this. I don't want to put a big red sticker that says "UGLY" on someone's baby. I'm not that guy. Stories bad enough to deserve one are almost always obvious within the first few chapters, and I won't read enough to review it. HOWEVER. Smutty power fantasies that use salt or grape for arousal will get slapped with Avoid. I haven't run into much of that here, thankfully. It seems to be more of a WebNovel thing. Yet another reason to use Honeyfeed.
