Jake and Alex are not heroes. They are simply 16 year old boys who life keeps beating up. It was pure chance they saved the girl from the monsters which chased her that day.

It was also pure stubbornness that led them into following her to the world of Ekodyne, a world of magic and science overrun by creatures known as the Twisted. The girl, a magicless sorceress named Elysia, dreams of finding the Eastern Treasure, a mythic artifact left by the First, the man who gave magic to Ekodyne, hidden somewhere in the desert at the end of the world. Nobody knows what it is, but she believes it is the key to stopping the Twisted.
