The year is 1935. Postwar America is in the midst of a depression sweeping the nation. During a time when all hope was lost, a lone horse girl by the name of Seabiscuit strives to make her debut in the world of racing, yet humble beginnings serve to dampen her career. Having been born to a lower-class family in Kentucky, Seabiscuit grew up under the tutelage of her mother, the former horse girl outcast, Hard Tack. Will the struggles of her mother's hatred toward racing put a halt to Seabiscuit's dreams, or will her determination drive her to the heights of glory?
This is my attempt at an Uma Musume spin-off series. I wanted to create an American version of the series, taking place in the 1930's when Seabiscuit was taking the world by storm. Further, I actually work at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, home of the oldest One Mile Dirt Track in America. Seabiscuit once trained for 10 days there. I occasionally will sit at the grandstand and play Uma Musume on my phone during my break, daydreaming about all of the wonderful races that took place on the historical land where I work. I hope you enjoy.
