Haruhiko Yubiwa longs to become a hero—but for the flair and not the responsibility. When he encounters a vampire, he doesn't let his chance slip by. Three years as vampire, he gets bored of the supernatural realm and pursues his original dream of becoming a hero. Sketching to be a "burning light of hope," he takes himself under the sun—but burns to dust as expected.

Haruhiko is sent to the Ravine, the third afterlife, after the collapse of heaven and hell. Yet due to its juvenile management, the souls thrown into it are kept unchecked and continues to thrive in their impromptu civilization—the Holy Lands of Twilightwood. Haruhiko, alongside unlikely companions, begin his life anew—establishing a name for himself as an Adventurer and later, Twilightwood's Burning Light of Hope.
