Marcus Macready, a 22 year old NEET living in an upscale apartment with a loving family. One day, he is urged by his friends to join them in playing the most hyped up MMO of the decade, Birthright: For The New World, a fantasy RPG series rich in lore and countless ways to build your perfect hero. Ready to break in his brand new VR headset, Marcus is more than happy to tag along.

Everything begins perfectly as he explores the town and battles some beasts, that is, until his headset vanishes and that video game world is now suddenly feeling much more real! Now trapped within the game as his character Ember, Marcus must learn how to fight and survive in accordance to the game's rules. Unable to accomplish this alone, he must seek companions, both players and others trapped here just like himself in order to discover why he's here, and how to find his way back home.
