Holy Shit, This Is A Masterpiece.

I stumbled onto this novel because it was labelled under "Staff Choice", so I immediately thought it was going to be an okay novel—but turns out, this is one of the best written story I have ever seen.

I loved everything about this novel. The dynamic, the story, the symbolism, the plot twist, and especially the characters. Aranara and Eiji's relationship was one of the best romances I have seen so far.

This novel—"The Death On Green"—has such a compelling story and plot, and a perfect mix of melancholic, happy, and psychological themes. I read the first chapter and immediately got hooked to read more. I finished it in only a few hours.

If I had any complaints about this novel, it was that I couldn't get enough. I wanted to see more of Eiji and Aranara's relationship after Chapter 17. It was such a bummer to not be able to see Eiji's and Aranara's future between the events of Chapter 17 and Chapter 18. I really really loved the kiss scene, the date they went on, and their shared profound intimacy after Aranara developed human emotions.

The characters, Eiji was such a relatable and empathetic protagonist, he was constantly helping Sayo—Even if it was unintentional—and I loved the way everything was hinted from the start. Now Aranara, her character development is phenomenal. She went from being Death that wants to become human, to a Death that is human. Her slowly developing emotions and realising them was just bittersweet. Especially when Eiji kissed Aranara, or when she was inspired by Eiji's "I like Death", and turned it into "I like my cat" then "I love my cat". Their cryptic confession for eachother is still so satisfying.

In Summary, this novel absolutely blew my expectations through the roof and delivered the perfect mix of sadness, depression, and hope. The plot was definitely a challenge for me, it took me a while to figure out the mysteries hidden in the phrases, for example, "I don't like goodbyes." or "I was alone." But I eventually cracked it, took a few minutes though.

Finally, I loved this novel start to finish. It really impacted me and made me see a few things differently. But now I'm stuck with this painful ache in my heart that won't stop because I don't get to see more of Aranara and Eiji 🥲...

Now it's just heartbreaking to see the story come to an end. There is my review, Give the masterpiece a read!
