12 year old Ialan and his 15 year old adopted sister, Marina, are grieving the recent loss of a close friend as they move into the chaotic city of Caotica. Marina doesn’t have much time left on Earth, and Ialan has committed himself to helping her spend that time to leave without regrets. As they adjust to a new life away from their father, they carry unfinished stories and quiet promises, all while bearing the hidden weight of being witches in a world of powerless, clueless humans. Time moves on two and a half years later, the Lantass siblings will encounter familiar faces and new ones, of friends and foes. What began as Marina’s simple wish to enjoy the rest of her life becomes something more, having not only Ialan, but other new and old loved ones--and some hated ones as well--by her side.
