Eitr Monksfoot, an illegitimate Prince of the north, returns home to find his town burning and conquered by an enemy state.
Unbeknownst to the enemy, the hidden Prince is taken as a slave to the rival kingdom, where he vows to make himself useful, rise through the ranks, and destroy the kingdom from within, like a slow-acting poison.
