Scarred by his past, in possession of mythical abilities, Lachlan left his home and travelled to the fourth corner of the world, Nihon, to right a wrong. Instead, he found himself staying for four years with a people and culture he never expected to come to love. It was meant to be a stepping stone, a means to an end.
But joining the military of an isolationist country is hard. Maybe he'd have a better chance with the Shadow Corps, the side of Nihon's defense who fight evil spirits with their own magic. But that'd mean letting his secret slip, and likely get him thrown out.
So he never expected it to be his only option.
His actions catch the eye of a kami, a guardian of spirits who spirits him away to an academy where the Samurai Masters of the SC are forged. There he meets those who'll fight at his side, and those who'll fight against him.
He always did prefer the hard way.

I welcome constructive criticism on how to Japanese, because heck if I know enough to work with all these honorifics and whatevers. We're definitely not in the real world here, but I can't brush off everything hilariously inaccurate. If anyone can help for next time, or just in general, please do. I will appreciate you immensely.
I do art too, but doubtful if I can actually upload it in this story's gallery due to "no touch" rules. May be able to link to the dumping grounds in my bio.
