First of all, can we talk about that title? It is literally a paragraph. But honestly? It’s the biggest mood of the century. The whole time I was reading, I was just vibing with Kanata (the MC) because he represents every single burnt-out student who just wants to go home and nap. 😴
So, the story starts off pretty standard, right? You’ve got Kanata, this guy with a "Cursed Dragon Arm" (which sounds scary but is actually kinda sick? It eats magic!), and he’s labeled a failure. He just wants to drop out of Tokyo Magic Academy, but of course, the plot says "No." He has to get these stamps from the four strongest witches to leave. It felt like a video game fetch quest at first—beat the boss, get the stamp. I was living for the drama with Itsuha (the fire girl, total tsundere) and Asuna (the idol, absolute queen). The early chapters were giving high school chaos, and I was here for it. ✨
But then... oh my god?? The story literally went from 0 to 100. 🚗💨
Suddenly we aren’t just fighting for grades; we are dealing with TIMELINES. We got Future Kanata vs. Present Kanata, alternate reality versions of the girls, and this whole "Fountain of Eternity" mess. I was literally screaming at my phone. Like, I signed up for a magic school rom-com, why am I crying over a cyborg arm and the fabric of reality collapsing?! 😭 The character growth is insane though. Kanata goes from "I don't care about anything" to literally fighting his own future self to save his friends. We love a man who steps up!
And can we discuss the later chapters? The audacity of this man to eventually become a teacher at the same school he tried to quit? 💀 The irony is delicious. Seeing him deal with Rinko and the return of Asuna as an adult instructor is just chef’s kiss. It feels like we grew up with him.
Overall, this novel took me on a rollercoaster I did not ask for, but I am so glad I rode it. It’s chaotic, it’s emotional, and Kanata is the reluctant hero we all need. If you haven't read it yet, you are missing out on the tea. ☕
Rating: 4.8/5 stars (taking off 0.2 because the timeline stuff made my brain hurt for a sec). Go read it! 💕📚
