Since the dawn of time, evil spirits have ruled the world of Taeron, posing as gods. But their reign of terror is ending. The Name of the Word has long since won the war. Now the fallen rage as their grip on Taeron is soon to be broken.
On a bridge outside the small village of Grainsel, an unfallen servant of the Name stands guard, steadfastly defending the survivors of the atrocities the so-called gods of the world have inflicted on the families living there. Together with three mortals, he guides the children of the village through the night, desperate to escape the flames now consuming their homes.
