Love at first fight has engaging and tense action that keeps me on the edge of my seat, spicy romance that makes my face smirk and smile, comedy that gets chuckles out of me, and drama that makes my heart ache.
The start of the story immediately throws the reader into an exciting action sequence, without wasting any time. The plot maintains good forward momentum despite being a romantic comedy. The story keeps the tension until the very last moment and ends on a satisfying note (not gonna spoil anything). The perspective change between the two main characters is smooth and not jarring at all, which displays the writing skill of the author.
The mainleads are very likable and precious. It took some time for me to warm up to Oto, but it was an enjoyable process to go from me wanting Oto to die to loving him, mirroring the sentiment of Hayami. (I really wanted Oto to die at the start lmao)
Oto perfectly embodies the "lovable idiot" role, annoying at first, endearing the more we know about him. Hayami is a great girl-boss who still keeps the adorable little girl within. The development of their relationship is believable and gradual, letting the readers experience the second-hand embarrassment and the heart-racing moments. Hayami's father is also a well-written side character; despite being an asshole, he still cares about Hayami to some degree.
I maintain that Chapter 7 is the most skillfully written out of all the chapters. Rich with subtext, a good turning point, efficient character introduction, and tense dialogue. It is one of the best chapters I have read on HoneyFeed, hands down.
In summary, this is an excellent story written by someone who clearly knows what they are doing, and it is certainly a strong contender in the TF contest.
