Many years ago, Eien made a contract with a god and ever since, has been cursed with bad luck. Currently, he does odd jobs to stay afloat in the everchanging city of Edo. Pushed to the end of his financial rope, he raids an active battlefield to steal whatever he can to make ends meet.

However, he catches the attention of the princess of the Kirin clan, Kizuna, as he steals from her airship. Cornering him, she convinces him to take a job that will set him up so that he won’t have to steal again. The catch? He has to take her to her ancestral home in China to prevent her from becoming a living god.

They’re forced to confront friends and foes on the streets of Edo in their quest to leave Japan. From thugs to political dignitaries from foreign nations, hostile forces are closing in. All the while, a timebomb is ticking inside Kizuna’s head.
