She has no place she belongs. She has no one to rely on. But, at least, there's Mr. Izawa. Each time she skips classes, his presence kind of soothes her. Secretly, Megumi considers him the father she would have liked to have.

Hence, when Mr. Izawa vanishes mysteriously, Megumi is desperate to find him. Despite the danger, she becomes part of the Clockwork Dolls Circus.

Along with the members of the circus, all of them gifted with magic, she decides to fight the Jikininkis, monsters responsible for many people's disappearances in Yokohama.

A risk she's willing to take, despite magic having become illegal all over Japan.
