I never meant to wander so deep into the winter forest. One wrong turn in a snowstorm and suddenly the world became nothing but white, silence, and fear. I was freezing, exhausted and sure I wouldn’t last the night, until I heard a wounded animal crying somewhere between the trees
I should’ve run. Any sane person would have. But something in me refused to leave that sound behind. When I found the wolf cub trapped under a fallen boulder, shaking and bleeding, my fear and instinct clashed… and compassion won.
Helping it cost me more than I expected. Its panicked bite knocked me out cold.
And when I woke up, everything had changed.
I could understand voices that weren’t human. I was surrounded by small wolf cubs and their mother, the legendary Amarok, towering above me like a living spirit of winter. Instead of killing me, she protected me. Guided me. Watched me with ancient, knowing eyes as I tried to survive the frozen maze and find my way home.
"Frozen Howl" is my entry for the monthly challenge, involving the theme - "The Frozen Trail of the Amarok"
I hope you all enjoy this novel, even though it's probably very short (Estimated around 5-7 chapters)
Oh and also the cover is AI generated. Just wanted to point that out there so I won't have to be a lying idiot. Thanks for reading before judging :D
