By and large, the deities of the earth are disconnected from the common man. In truth, they aren't really understood. But they can be sung to. To sing the song of a god and invoke its melody is how humans can perform magic. Of course, this can vary: to sing a chant to the god of strength can give a boost in stamina. To play a string for the goddess of fertility over your plants will often help them grow, if she's in a good mood. Orchestras are brought together to delight the storm gods and fend off earthquakes and typhoons. And still scientists and musicians research for songs yet to be learnt.
Ichiro knows a tune or two; in this day and age, who wouldn't? His high school has a mandatory music class, as is common for nearly all of them. It's just another subject, along with math and Japanese and English and gym... But what happens when cheating on an exam goes awry, government agents lurk around every corner, and the heretical Song of Silence begins to be sung?
[Urban Fantasy]
Oh sing a song to the gods, who crave to hear the melody of their life.
Oh sing a song to the gods, who act on the whims of talent.
Oh sing a song to the gods, who with fickle ears will bend to voice.
Oh sing a song to the gods, who can live again.
I look forward to working on this, and to whoever enjoys it.
Cover in progress (sorry)
