Light Yagami was defeated fifteen years ago, and despite the disappearance of the true Kira, his influence was felt worldwide. Political conflicts are fought between supporters of Kira and his detractors. After the United States president's "acquisition" of Kira's power, America finds itself at the heart of this political battle, with Death Note appearances becoming more frequent. Near, now known as L, assigns an investigation team led by "F" to stop anyone who may possess a Death Note. Meanwhile, Nemesis, a notorious gambling Shinigami, makes a bet with Ryuk. In exchange for having access to his second Death Note, she promises Ryuk that she’d be able to find a human capable of changing the world to the same extent as Light Yagami.
