This one is a solid evocation of its type of horror. The ending... is what it is, and as a whole there's a great deal of ambiguity in the story in general that usually works in its favor.
The conceit of the forgotten transgression, baked into the prompt, is not something I can really hold against you all, and the implementation of the ring managed to avoid prurient assumptions, to which I give credit.
This is a quite strong entry.
