Not a bad beginning. I guess I'm only confused by the first part about her being "just like her mother" or father, since the point was she's slower than others? But it is late at night, and my brain is feeling slow right now. Love the atmosphere you're setting! It does kind of remind me of the Twilight Zone series, it just has that kind of atmosphere to it.
