I’ve followed her work for a while now, and every time I open one of her books it feels like meeting old friends again. I completely fell for Miyo, Akio, Shinichi and Kenta and all the characters that she created. What struck me most was how deeply the story understands unrequited love. The way it can completely turn your head around, make you hold onto hope, and blur the line between pain and devotion. It captures that aching feeling that the one who loves the hardest is often the one who suffers the most… yet somehow also the one who truly wins, because they loved fully and sincerely.
