Simple, yet addictive.

A fiction with a cat called Cheddar. Do you really need more of a reason to give it a read? You heathens. Very well.

If you crave for a cosy fantasy, for a lighthearted story to devour in a few, or even in a single bite for the greediest ones, this is the place. These are the pages to flick. The extra-short chapters to sniff. "The Chronicles of a Love Potion" is no pretentious book, and simply narrates the encounter of Lief, a love chronicler, with the main character of his 992nd love story to write about.

And what a main character! Aine is far from a well-behaved lady. Instead of flower embroidery, hers are magic circles. Instead of tea, she brews dubious potions. Dates scheduled by her desperate mother are nothing in Aine's eyes but an occasion to test the effects of her latest love potion!

From their names to the details added sometimes in a handful of lines (like for Aine's suitors), Val.ja makes her characters vivid and diversified. A delightful cast to uncover, making Aine's date-of-the-week a moment I always enjoyed reading about.

A notable detail about this fiction is that for a good part of the story, Aine and Lief don't meet. Ohh don't think they don't interact with one another in a certain sense. They do. It's a game of cat and mouse, and I found it pretty refreshing compared to the classic straight-up meeting, interacting and blushing stuff.

That said, I'm not telling it's a perfect story. It isn't. All I will say regarding that is that the last chapters are clearly and obviously butchered. Posting chapters on the last day, clock ticking, I think we can all guess what happened.

Yet, despite that, I still believe it's worth a glance. It's because the story is so pleasant to read that it's worth proper last chapters, or rather an extended last part. "The Chronicles of a Love Potion" definitely deserves more reads (259 views so far??? WTF. GIVE IT MORE VIEWS AND LIKES YOU TIGHTFISTED BEES)

Anyway, all I hope is that val.ja keeps crafting delicious stories~
