Shako Ikitayashi is a high school student who, for most of his life, has felt like he doesn't belong. Because of his family's difficulties and how he sees himself compared to the people around him, he has come to believe the world is simply against him.

None of this could have prepared him for what took place that day.

Shako is made to commit suicide against his will.

However, when he wakes up, he discovers he is in a strange new world—and he is still alive.

But the chance to live again comes at a cost. Soon after, Shako finds himself caught in a conflict that has raged for thousands of years, surrounded by people whose lives are entirely unlike his own.

On his journey, he meets people who question how he sees himself, his life, and the world around him. And as he starts to discover the truth about his new existence, one question keeps pursuing him:
