Ten years ago, Ira’s parents were killed. They gave their lives for her to escape from a demon wreathed in ice and snow, a hurricane in its wake. She has sworn to kill the demon herself. To do so, she must become a Watcher like them.

Watchers are the Avalsari Empire’s elite soldiers, dedicated to the destruction of Evertos Demons. To become one, she must pass the Watcher Exam held in the Citadel, a two-kilometer tall tower that is almost as old as the empire exam itself.

As she takes the exam, she meets the bastard daughter of a Highlord, a foreign princess burdened by the weight of expectation, and the Third Messenger the immortal ageless hero of humanity.

As she pursues her humble goal— driven by vengeance and accompanied by new friends, forces across the empire also begin to act.

Amidst all of these, the Haze persists at the edge of civilization. There, demons dwell and all sense of time and direction is lost.
