After millennia buried under a forgotten kingdom, Derek wakes up. He’s no angel — he’s an anti-angel, the last of a race erased from history.
His return tears open the sky and puts every military on alert. To them, he’s a weapon to capture and control.
To seventeen-year-old Maya, he’s just a brooding nightmare who can’t use a crosswalk. Sarcastic and allergic to authority, she doesn’t worship him or run. She insults him. Then shows him how a microwave works.
While Maya drags Derek through the 21st century as his reluctant guide and ego-check, black ops teams hunt him. Drones, containment units, and orders to shoot on sight close in. But Derek isn’t the only thing that woke up. Something worse followed him.
Now Maya has to keep an ancient anti-angel hidden and functional in a world that wants him dead, while Derek decides if humanity deserves saving — or if Maya is the only part worth protecting.

Derek’s awakening rips the sky and triggers global defense protocols. Governments see a weapon to capture. Maya sees a six-foot problem who can’t cross a street. Ancient power meets drones, bureaucracy, and DoorDash.

Derek: Ancient anti-angel. Power level catastrophic, common sense zero. Doesn’t understand sarcasm until Maya uses it against him.
Maya: 17. Blunt, no filter, unimpressed by gods. His reluctant guide and moral checkpoint. Roasts first, asks questions later.

External: Black ops, drone swarms, kill orders.
Internal: Derek decides if humanity deserves saving. Maya figures out why she’s the exception.
