Inomar, a nobleman, a warrior, a hero who has fallen out of favor with nearly everyone he knew and has been banished from the city he called home, returns to the homeland of his ancestors, the Apallian Isles—once a great kingdom, now torn into many different lordships—a land the young man only knew from stories and legends passed on to him.

Having reached the lowest point in his life, Inomar tries to find meaning and rekindle the flame of his very being, so that one day he might stand once again where he once triumphed as a hero.
