Premise:
For three hundred years, the kingdom of Avarra has been protected by an ancient magical barrier called the Veil. When the Veil suddenly begins to fail, sixteen-year-old Elara Veyne, an apprentice mapmaker who has never held a weapon, discovers that the kingdom's greatest secret is hidden inside her family's forgotten maps.

The maps reveal that the kingdom's official history is a lie.

The legendary monsters beyond the Veil aren't invading Avarra.

As entire cities disappear beneath unnatural storms, Elara is forced into a journey across ruined kingdoms, enchanted forests, and forgotten underground cities.
