"Phoenix" is known as a holy bird who reincarnates upon death, but that was only true for the god/holy sunbird 'Icarus', who sacrificed itself for unknown reason just to be able to reproduce. In a world where phoenixes can repopulate and perish like a normal creature would, there is one young phoenix that stood out among the rest.

"Haitora Kohaku" is a phoenix nestling who for one reason or another, fell from great heights straight into a snowy mountain. He met a mysterious figure who helped him survive in the cold blizzard. He had to fight in the wilderness without any knowledge to fighting, but managed to survive by learning from a children's tale book. He soon learn there are stronger foes out in the world, so he always comes back injured and battered. Yet somehow, he always comes back alive even with his neck slit opened. Is he truly a phoenix? can he still be called 'alive'?
