Five dragons ruled the world, and to some, they were gods. Beings who shaped and formed the lands, and in the land the water dragon named Leviathan controlled, a girl named Ariella lived in a town on the edge of the rainy country. There, the people worshiped it as a god, but Ariella didn't see it that way. The dragons were a nuisance, making the lives of everyone living under them worse. Yet, she had no power to do anything about it.

Once a year, the kingdom sent out its army to evaluate children who had turned eight. It was a simple test where they placed their hands on an orb to determine if the kid was gifted or not. If they were, they were forced to enroll at the Academy in the royal capital. And for Ariella, who had just turned eight, it was finally her turn.

Ariella's life changed for the better, but as she was enjoying her school life, the world around her begins to crumble.
