A Place between There and Now

One has to pay dearly for immortality; one has to die several times while one is still alive.

To understand what it means to be mortal, one must first learn how to be immortal. Thus he travels great distances, sees lands never seen before, only to realise that immortality is only the absence of mortality. Once he understands this, he is back where he started, as ignorant as he was before his journey, with one difference, he knows that this journey in search of immortality has made him truly mortal. Because if one does not achieve anything in their life, they are not mortal, because there is nothing about them that could die. It is through living that one becomes mortal, but not living is the only way to be dead forever.
