In the modern neo-Tokyo of 2177, society has been shaped by the wondrous technology of J-Tech: the soulmate serum. Babies are injected with the serum at the age of one, and at the age of sixteen their blood is re-collected to pair the genetic compound to that of their “soulmate”. This technological advancement has benefitted all of society; except the soulless- a minority group of people at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder who do not have soulmates. Ryo Yamazaki is a leader of a street gang called the soulless six, who work together to take out the populous of aristocratic soulmates who discriminate against the soulless. That is, until young aristocrat Rika Mori stumbles onto a street of his territory.
