A first chapter that gets immediately in with an ominous yet not throat gripping hook right off the bat, while remaining easy to digest, even in my sick state (Covid and laryngitis together are a killer combo on the throat and mind). Quick establishment of potential characters we will see a lot of going down the line without throwing around names like a hair trigger Chekov's gun gives a LOT of flexibility too, since descriptions in place of actual names for characters means there's no chance of accidentally making a scene character, such as the mentioned Werewolves and Dragons, so important that they absolutely have to show up frequently or have a critical impact on the story.
An enjoyable first chapter, I look forward to reading more in the daylight hours since its nearly midnight.
