Along with this chapter giving some hints of mystery, we also see strong signs about the mentality of Kaede and her view of the relationship.
It seems that Kaede is extremely dependened on Ren. Which puts her in an existential crisis in absence of him. She questioning who herself is and what to do builds up a portrait for the character which might be important for the characters future goals and motivations.
Seems like story has bot criminal, psychological and emotional aspects. Keep up the good work!
