I like it! It is well written and this chapter is a great introduction.
Anyway, I have two points (I know this novel is already finished, but let me say it):
1. I feel like Father Time is repeating himself. Maybe this is an effect you want to achieve, but it disturbs the reading flow.
2. I think the reaction of the invader being chosen by Father Time is a bit forced. Maybe a few more reactions and a realistic answer would be better.

But great story! Glad I found it!

It's not necessary to have development in every chapter, not drastically.This is a good chapter to introduce the other two characters and the training. I think a lot of people focus too much on development in their novels...myself included 😶
