Ooh! This was such a fantastic chapter!
I love how Akira is immediately set apart by his values -- he hates that the Empire has become so ruthless, bloodthirsty, and devoid of honor. The level of introspection he shows about sparing lives and the empathy he feels really set him apart immediately. Only one chapter, and already brimming with development! 😊
The setting is really vivid and immersive, too. Cinematic and easy to visualize.
And omg, that cliffhanger ending! I know it's part of the summary for the story, but it still comes as a surprise. It's really well-written and paced.
