Callum needs to lock in cause he keeps remembering critical details a little too late, like the attack on Alder village earlier and now being drugged by the man lol.
On a serious note, it’s nice to have some theories confirmed and questions answered this chapter. I wonder what the aims of Golden Lotus are given they are not bothering with any subtlety burning the entire village.
Also wanted to say, the prose and quality of writing has improved dramatically from ch 1. I’m looking forward to what’s next!

Lisharotte has barely been introduced but I’m already shipping her with Gil lol. The difference in their standings might be a hurdle down the line though.
And the detail that only his family and some ministers knew about his mission - definitely interesting and makes me wonder whether it wasn’t a family member resenting not being chosen by Skyrend

A calm chapter, which I appreciate after the action from the last two. The worldbuilding remains strong and coherent, and I like the wryness of the dialogue and prose.
In the coming chapters, I would like to, again, know more about Gil’s motivations and what’s at stake for him

The action sequence was fluid and well written in this chapter.
I wasn’t expecting Wodan to make his exit so soon, I wonder if it’s because his energy was simply spent or it’s something like his last remaining desire was fulfilled. Either way, I do like the way you handled his departure with the scene flashbacks.
I wonder whether the glyph on the sword means he can now wield Wodan’s strength even with him gone? If so, I can see a cool progression happening in the coming chapters.
It still remains to be seen, though, where this is headed and what the stakes are for Gilvantes

The part with his father hit me in the feels. Also this time it looks like Callum has been caught for good, I wonder if they’ll take him wherever they’re taking Barrak O. and his sister.
Either way, excited to see what happens next!

The worldbuilding here is deep and looks well planned, great job with that! I also like Wodan and Gil’s dynamic, with Wodan’s wisdom in not helping the villagers so they do not grow dependent vs. Gil’s earnestness.
Skyrend appears to have mysterious powers that I’m curious to learn more about, and what being chosen by it entails. It seems like it might only be wielded by those in Gil’s family, hence the surname Godblade.

Looking forward to this series.

Given the fact they had a hearty meal just hours before, Callum either has the metabolism of a hummingbird or the interaction with the man last chapter has left him drained.
We don’t know much about Barrak O. but I’m rooting for him for some reason. Hope he’s safe!
