Ohh, I am entirely dismissing the statement that you need a light mage. It’s made by people who specifically don’t know how they work or how to use them. Given they appear to use steam a thermal mage seems more likely, or maybe it’s electrical.
Similarly with the bridge, it doesn’t necessarily mean that an earth mage has to be involved. Particularly given the fact that they’re previously stated as being very rare. Any number of forces could be used to bring down a stone bridge. Assuming a conspiracy is using a more obvious, rarer and thus more easily traceable mage seems reasonable in the heat of the moment. But ultimately questionable as the basis for long term considerations.
I would also add that while Uthien’s claim is on its face very reasonable it also falls apart. Given the very public nature of Linnea’s behavior over the last few days anyone with a reasonable grasp of the parties involved would have been able to tell Linnea and Uthien would be following her out to that remote location. And by staging such an attack they get information, possibly eliminating a number of people and probably make it seem like Morenna set them up. It’s a reasonable assumption, but one that makes a lot of presumptions about motives and the capacity of others for duplicity. Something that makes a lot of sense for a young book learned prince who is sheltered under his mother’s political avoidance.
And just to add, I am really enjoying all of this. The conspiracy theories are because it’s all so fun.
