I really enjoyed the quieter pace of this chapter. After everything that's happened so far, it was nice getting a chance to see Selene and Lyra interact without an immediate crisis hanging over them.
I especially liked seeing another side of Lyra. Up until now we've mostly known her as the General, so seeing her joke around, tease Selene, and eventually ask her to simply call her "Lyra" made her feel much more human. Their chemistry is starting to come through naturally, too, and the scene in the tree was really sweet without feeling like their relationship suddenly jumped forward.
Elise confronting Selene was another nice touch. Selene may have saved her life, but now there's another person who knows her secret, even if Elise promises to keep it. It feels like the number of people who know is slowly growing, which makes me wonder how long Selene can realistically keep her abilities hidden.
I also loved the ending with Lyra still watching the camp from the tree. Even when she's trying to escape from being the General for a little while, she can't completely stop looking after everyone below.
Looking forward to seeing where Selene and Lyra go from here!
