Chapter 1:
Raceblazers
Chelbie Chile, a 16-year-old auto mechanic with the spiciest attitude around, had woken up as if she had been driving for what felt like millions of years.
“What just happened?” she asked herself before realizing that something seemed off.
In fact, everything seemed off.
Her hands were gripping tight onto the steering wheel of a monster truck that she built with heart from the ground up.
The Flamethrottle Fury.
Wherever she was going, it came to her attention that the vehicle was still moving. However, a strange flash of light started to mess with her line of sight. After immediately pushing on the brakes, the screeching wheels of her monstrous truck crashed hard into a pile of toppling broken cars.
Finally coming to a full stop didn’t exactly help to calm her nerves. A deep humming noise could be heard from the outside. She couldn’t even make out what it was before dozing off unconscious.
By the time Chelbie woke up, she realized it was all a nightmare after finding herself in bed.
No scratches.
No scars.
No truck accidents.
Only the new bedroom an old friend named Cherry Brooks gave to her after they recently saved The Omniverse.
Well technically, The Judgment Warriors saved The Omniverse, she thought to herself.
It was nearing dawn at 6 AM and she still couldn’t get that recent memory out of her head. Seeing the person who broke her legs in a completely different world messed with her mind.
There wasn’t any way to make that traumatic past go away. Remembering how it felt hurt a lot more than she could bear.
Chelbie’s past rival, Lucila Vanderhilt, was roller skating right beside her down to the last lap in front of crowds of people sitting on school park bleachers. The track’s hard pavement was hotter than usual as the sun shone through the bright blue sky.
The choices were slim, but the adrenaline was high.
Each roller skate that touched the ground intensified the match by threefold. She was getting close and there was no turning back to take breaks.
Nearing a hundred meters into the finish line, the two of them had surpassed every other skater there. Chelbie was about to make it, getting an inch faster every second with Lucila nearly getting left behind.
And that was when it happened…
Giving Chelbie an unnoticed shove using her right leg, Lucila caused her to lose balance and trip into a large flight of descending stairs. Rocking her body down the six steps, this brutal fall suddenly came with a loud cracking noise.
Blood came out quickly from both of Chelbie’s knees, also causing her to lose consciousness in the process.
By the time she woke up, the pain and injuries had gone away. However, she still couldn’t move properly. The doctors told her she was in a hospital bed for six months. They amputated both of her legs from concurring that a deadly infection pierced into her tibia bones after what happened. As a result, they were replaced with prosthetic legs in an attempt to help her move around again.
When she got to meet her parents again though, her joy shifted from how closed off they became to her. Almost as if they didn’t see much value in raising their daughter anymore.
Chelbie couldn’t see it until years later that she was going to be handed over to her Uncle Xavier to be taken care of instead. The anger festered within her from the decision that they made, even when she was finally released from the hospital.
All of her efforts to join back into the school were unsuccessful, due to the fact that Lucila lied about the incident to their principal and had pretended to fall after Chelbie did.
According to her, she was the victim of a heated exchange from a rival student who cared little to nothing about anyone.
Snapping back into the current reality, she whispered to herself while her fists squirmed tightly out of vengeful anticipation.
“You’re not gonna get away with it that easily Lucila. Just you wait… This girl is revvin’ to go.”
