Chapter 3:

Mother's love

Eclipse

It was raining heavily, the wind was strong with momentary lightnings. The baby cried in his cradle as the mother tried to close the windows in the dimly lit cabin.

"It's ok Aldric! Mommy is here!" she said in a hurry while closing the last window, forcing through the heavy wind. After it was done, she sighed of exhaustion, the room warm with the flames of the lanterns on the wall that lighted the room, silent with the only sounds being the glass panes of the window shaking with the wind and the cries. She then went to the crying baby.

"Here, here, mommy is here. Come to Mommy!" she said with a bright loving smile and lifter him up from his cradle and held him to her chest, his head resting on her shoulder while she patted her back softly, caressing him.

The baby slowly calmed down to the mother's loving caresses. She smiled, and with a voice filled with motherly love started to sing her baby to sleep, as little Aldric quieted down

Hush little one don't you cry
Mommy is there by your side
sleep little one and dream dream dream
under the lights of the stary night

Sleep brave one brave you dream on
If you have nightmares don't fear none
Daddy will save you, hold your hand
and all the nightmares will be gone

Dream little one dream of a world
more beautiful than any fairytales told
fly through the clouds and shine like the sun
dream dream on my little one

Sleep my love sleep with no fear
Mommy and Daddy will always be here
the night is beautiful, the bed is warm
sleep my little, lovely charm

The baby had fallen asleep in her arms, quiet and peaceful. She carried him, caressing him, for a while then slowly put him back in his cradle and kissed his forehead as he stretched and slept in the cradle. She stood here for a while looking at the baby with a loving smile and eyes tearing up. She was grateful to have been blessed with a such a life... a loving husband and a beautiful little child. She mopped her tears and kissed his forehead again.

She went to a table, pulled a chair and sat there. She lighted a candle with a match and then, from a nearby box, brought out a diary, yellow pages and leather cover and a feather among the pages, then an ink pot. She placed them on the table and flipped through the pages till she reached a blank page. She pulled out the feather and dipping it in the ink, started writing

"We are to shift to our new home today. Den went on first to set things up while we are here in this small cabin that Kenji told us be in while Den was there, while he went after him." (Den is for Denry), "We'll just have to wait till we hear from them.

She looked out of the window, a worry on her face, and sighed

"It's raining heavily today, I feel worried. I haven't been having a good feeling about the evening since long, this unsettling feeling that something wrong will happen. I mentioned it to Den and he hugged me and said everything will be fine. His hug calmed me down, I wish he is right. I just hope he is safe and comes to me soon, I don't feel good when he is not around, it's hard to stay without him in front of my eyes. Please come home honey, your Isa is waiting"

She kept her hand on her chest, her heart beating loud, and breathed out, her breaths shaking, telling herself she's just being worried unnecessarily and everything was fine. She then looked at her baby and smiled, and wrote

"I've been holding it together thanks to my baby, looking at his little face numbs my worries. He is beautiful, the best gift of god, if there's any god up there. Today I looked at him sleep and the night he was born on flashed before my eyes, the best night of my life.

These two are my life, everything I ever wanted, and will ever want. I love my baby Aldric.

And I love you Den, just come home quick"

She sat back on her chair with a sigh, looked out of the window, in the rain, and sighed again in worry.

That's when something came flying from a distance and breaking through the window glass fell on the ground with the glass pieces. She was taken aback and instinctively clenched her fist, which had turned into crystal, like it was made out of it and not flesh, with sharp edges, to the wrist. She then loosened it and it went back to a regular hand, as she calmed down. The wind broke the glass pane entirely, bashing in loudly, and the baby started crying.

She got up and went to the thing, careful, and picked it up. Her heart was sinking, her chest hurt, she wasn't feeling right. Something was horribly wrong, she could feel it, barely holding on to her brave and Den's face in her mind.

It was something wrapped in a paper. She unfolded it, her hands shaking for some reason. She didn't know why she felt that fear, but she did. It was a tape recorder.

"Something is written on the paper... it... it looks like Kenji's handwriting" and then looking at the tape recorder she was taken aback in shock, her eyes wide and confused as she looked at it in her hands and said, "It's... Den's tape recorder..."

Outside in the rain stood a dark figure, his grin bright and heinous. A crow landed on his shoulder and he said with a sinister whisper, "Found you..."

Looking at the woman... and the child.
