Chapter 13:
Devil's Curse
accompanied by a contingent of demon soldiers.
Kel, a towering figure clad in dark armor adorned with demonic sigils, approached Master Kenshin with an air of authority and disdain. His presence was imposing, and his piercing eyesscanned the gathered samurai with suspicion and contempt.
“What the hell has happened here, Kenshin?” Kel’s voice was sharp and accusatory. “Why have you all been beaten so easily by the Kurei-Kage? Are you that weak?”Master Kenshin, though formidable, felt the weight of Kel’s words. He lowered his gaze, his voice tinged with frustration and shame. “Vice Commander Kel, it was not just their strength. I believe the Kurei-Kage used some kind of gas to weaken us before their raid. We felt unusuallyheavy and sluggish.”
Kel turned his gaze towards the students, his eyes narrowing as he assessed them. The students nodded in agreement, echoing Kenshin’s words. “We felt it too, sir. It was as if wewere drugged or poisoned.”
Kel’s expression softened slightly, but his tone remained stern. “I will let it slide this time, but mark my words, there won’t be a next time. You must be prepared for anything.”With that, Kel turned to oversee the academy, deciding his next course of action. The tensionlingered in the air, leaving everyone uneasy about what Kel might do next.
Meanwhile, in the hidden stronghold of the Kurei-Kage, their vice commander, Kenjiro Ishikawa, gathered his elite squad. “It’s time for a showdown,” he announced, his voice brimming with determination. “We’ve received intel about a powerful artifact in one of theSector 3 outposts in the east. We don’t have much time. Let’s move.”
Kenjiro’s squad included some of the most formidable warriors in the Kurei-Kage. There was Yurei, a master of stealth and shadow manipulation, capable of vanishing into thin air. Raiden, whose speed and lightning-fast attacks could decimate foes in seconds. And Jiro, a hulking brute with immense strength and the ability to conjure fire. The scene shifted to the Sector 3 outpost, where demons went about their routine duties—training, keeping watch, and maintaining order. The outpost seemed impenetrable, but it wasabout to face an unexpected assault.
Without warning, a katana sliced through the air, heading straight for the watchtower demon. The blade pierced the demon’s head, killing it instantly before returning to its owner—Kenjiro Ishikawa. The Kurei-Kage had arrived, and chaos ensued.Kenjiro led the charge, his katana a blur of deadly precision. He moved through the outpost like a shadow, cutting down demons with swift, lethal strikes. Yurei, Raiden, and Jiro followedsuit, each displaying their unique abilities.
Yurei slipped through the shadows, taking out demons silently and efficiently. Raiden darted around the battlefield, his movements too fast for the eye to follow, leaving a trail of electrocuted enemies in his wake. Jiro unleashed torrents of flame, incinerating any demonthat dared to oppose them.
The once orderly outpost became a scene of carnage, blood flowing like a river as demons fell to the relentless assault. The Kurei-Kage moved with deadly precision, their teamworkimpeccable and their resolve unshakable.
Kenjiro led the way, his senses sharp as he searched for the artifact they had come for. Amidst the slaughter, he discovered a hidden gate leading to a basement. Inside, he found cages filled with men, women, and children—human captives, their eyes wide with fear.“What are you doing here?” Kenjiro demanded. One of the captives, a frail man with sunken eyes, responded, “The demons… they keep us asfood. They’ve been feeding on us.”
Kenjiro’s eyes widened in shock, but he quickly regained his composure. He freed the captives, urging them to escape. As they fled, he continued his search, driven by a sense of urgency. Finally, he found it—the artifact they had been seeking. It was a broken horn, ancient and emanating a faint, ominous aura. Kenjiro lifted the horn, examining it closely, his eyes narrowing in suspicion. “What creature did this come from?” he muttered to himself, themystery deepening.
Just as he was about to leave, a sudden realization struck him. The broken horn seemed eerily familiar, sparking a memory of an ancient tale he had once heard. His heart raced as he pondered the implications. Could this horn belong to a creature of legend, one with immensepower?
With the artifact secured, Kenjiro signaled his squad to retreat. They left the outpost in ruins, the bodies of demons strewn across the ground. The mission had been a success, but the revelation of the human captives and the mystery of the broken horn weighed heavily on Kenjiro’s mind.As they made their way back to the Kurei-Kage stronghold, Kenjiro couldn’t shake the feeling that this artifact held more significance than they realized. It was a clue, a piece of a larger puzzle that would soon reveal itself in the battles to come.
