Chapter 19:
Synthetic Love
Yesterday, the search for Camella's dress had been quite tiring.
In the end, we had ended up purchasing tons of gowns for her due to her indecisiveness
"It's 7pm and i'm sleepy "I said as I yawned
As grand and lavish mansion stood before us, its wide-open space showcasing a beautiful fountain as the centerpiece.
I stood next to Annie, both of us dressed in our finest attire. I wore a well-fitted black suit,
Annie is wearing a beautiful black and red gown. The layered black skirt with its daring high slit exposed her slender legs, while the top-half featured intricate red lace
"This is really exciting, Gerald! All the famous celebrities and business men are here, isn't it great?" she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
"We're here to celebrate Camella's grandfather's birthday party, so please behave. No picture-taking for visitors, got it?" I reminded Annie with a smile as I extended my hand towards her, waiting for her to grasp it. "Alright"Annie wrapped her arm around mine,.
As we stepped inside the mansion, I was taken aback by the stunning view. A grand staircase stood in the center,
As if we transport us back to the era of the Renaissance,
Lots of waiters service champagne and sweets everywhere
I scanned the room and spotted Camella chatting with some guests. Glen was diligently attending to the guests' needs as well. When she noticed us, Camella hurriedly walked over and greeted us with a smile.
"Good evening! Gerald,Annie You both look absolutely stunning tonight."
Camella stood before us, her blonde hair perfectly tied in a elegant bun, adorned with a few loose strands framing her face.
Her long skirt down to her ankles, Matching the gown, she wore a pair of red shoes, Her usual black leather choker was wrapped around her neck
everyone's eyes and attention hifted towards the grand staircase as an elderly man, resplendent in a finely tailored white suit, slowly made his way down the steps.
being aided by Glen. He arrived at the bottom of the stairs and gave a gracious smile, raising a glass of wine in his hand.
"My deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for honoring me with your presence here today," he began, his voice carrying a mix of gratitude and pride.
"I feel truly fortunate to have two wonderful granddaughters, Primrose and Camella. They have brought me so much joy and pride. Now, after many years of dedication, I have decided that it is time to retire. But before that, there is something I would like to share with all of you."
"I was involved in a project for a self-driving car. The test was an absolute failure""
"With my retirement in mind," he explained, "I believe that Camella is more than capable of taking the reigns in the field of automobiles."
His eyes glimmered with pride as he looked at Camella, who stood nearby, listening intently
"I have no doubts that she will uphold the values and standards that I have established throughout the years
" the company will be in good hands with her." He raised his glass once more, taking a sip of his wine and cling it with a fork
"I have decided that my son , Giovanis' daughter, Camella, shall step in and continue my legacy."
As hus words echoed through the ballroom, a hush fell over the guests. Murmurs and whispers filled the air as people exchanged surprised glances.
The criticism from the guests intensified, and their comments stung
"What about Primrose?" a guest voiced, their tone laced with curiosity.
"Camela is unbearable, such a bossy and spoiled brat," another chimed in,
"She thinks she's superior to everyone else," a third chimed in, their opinion even more pointed.
"I feel sorry for Primrose," someone else added, their tone sympathetic.
The thought of Camella becoming the next CEO seemed to baffle many, and skepticism hung heavily in the atmosphere. .
"Camella is such a spoiled brat, I can't believe she's going to be our boss." Yet another guest added,
", she's just a dumbass who knows nothing but to bully others. Not to mention her scandal throughout her acting career "
"Primrose deserves better than this "other commented
As my eyes fell on Primrose, I noticed tears welling up in her eyes and silently streaming down her cheeks.
"Primrose...." I called out her name. Without a second thought, she turned and ran away, her footsteps growing distant. I wasted no time in following her,
The noise of the crowded ballroom faded as We reached the outdoor area, a large, expansive space with only the soft glow of moonlight to light our path.
Primrose was standing infront of A lone telescope stood near the edge, its objective fixed on the starry sky above
The night was calm, and a gentle breeze rustled through Primrose's hair, making it dance in the wind.
"Primrose..." I said softly, my voice filled with concern.
she turned around, her tears falling continuously from her eyes.
I wanted to say something, to offer comfort, but the sight of her tears rendered me momentarily speechless. I reached out, gently wiping away a tear from her cheek.
Primrose choked back a sob, the pain and loneliness evident in her voice.
"Camella always gets everyone's attention, despite being such a b*tch and doing nothing but insult people. It's as if no one sees me, no one understands me... I just feel so useless and invisible."
"No matter how hard I try, it always seems to be Camella in the end, even Grandpa doesn't love me."
"It's always camela...."
I was at a loss for words, listening to her
"I wish there was something I could say or do to make you feel better."
I took a step forward and gently patted Primrose's head, a familiar gesture I often used with Annie.
As my hand touched her head, Primrose suddenly embraced me, burying her face in my shoulder and letting out a deeper, more intense cry. Her tears soaked the fabric of my suit as she clung to me,
It felt like half an hr has passed
I suddenly sensed someone's presencebehind us. I slowly turned around and there stood Camella, her usual cold, emotionless expression on her face.
Primroser gaze falling on Camella's leather choker. "
"Why are you wearing a dog collar?" she asked bluntly. "Take it off, it doesn't suit you."
I couldn't resist a brief glance at Camella's neck. Her slim black leather choker had a small rectangle Glass like with tiny blue lights that I had never paid attention to before.
A thought crossed my mind—what may happen if that collar were removed?I thought
Primrose stood up and pulled the collar and was shocked as camela fall down and I catched her before her hti the ground
And theres is something I saw that sent shivers down my spine
a small hole in Camelas neck as if like bullet hole to the part where the blue light in the choker used to cover
"What are you really?..."primrose whispered as she stepped back
