Prologue

I’ve written countless pages, rewritten, torn out, tried to save what was valuable and given up a lot over the years. I still have quite a bit to go, though. I’ve fought battles and wars and raised children and, just earlier this morning, I think I found the first gray hair on my head.

I am getting old, but I do not plan on dying any time soon.
