Chapter 65:
Crimson Power Black Feather
"I will be talking to you as we walk home because it's not easy for me to be left alone with my own thoughts. So, even if I seem like a crazy person talking to myself, people will assume I have headphones or something, right? And it's not just me, you are there listening, and you can't protest anyway." She paused, "Huh, I hope I won't have any adventures today, Sobue kinda freaked me out a bit. I wonder if you'll be telling me some information. Wait. My head hurts again. If I fall, you have to get help, okay?"
It doesn't matter. I have to get home before I collapse, it's stupid when you are alone on the street and unconscious too. Uh, I hope I manage.
She turned her head forward and leaned onto the building breathing in and out. The world started to spin a bit. She touched her temples. Among a few people on the street, she noticed a bald head. This bald head looked shiny...
Good, now I hallucinate him. I should just... It's getting worse, maybe it is him. If I fall then, he can save me? Then I should call him over, right? Embarrassing as hell, but it'll be more embarrassing if I collapse...
"Khm, Yoshi!" She felt her voice wasn't strong enough, but her energy was seeping away with an impressive speed. She closed her eyes again, thinking it might be it. "Yoshi!" She whispered and gave in.
She opened her eyes and looked around. Her hands were full of silver jewelry, and she wore a white kimono. She looked around again, the wooden house was unfamiliar, but was well-decorated. There was no mirror, unfortunately.
"Are you ready?" Someone asked her behind the doors.
"I am, "she heard herself answering quietly.
"Then we shall proceed. The groom is waiting."
"I hope he is." She laughed happily, walking towards the door.
"Sora?! Sora!" She heard from far away. "Sora!"
She blinked, Yoshi was holding her in his arms, looking horribly worried. She noted to herself, that it was the first time she saw him looking this way. He never lost his composure, right? Wait.
He called me by my name?!
She smiled and closed her eyes unconsciously, she felt so happy to hear it from him. Her name was far away, but he said it now, it wasn't her imagination.
"Wait, are you awake, don't fall asleep!" He touched her face, and she glanced back at him.
"Y-Yoshi, you came..."
"Of course, you called me, fortunately. You don't look too good."
"Have I been out for long?"
"No, just a moment, I only teleported you home now."
"Oh, we are here, right."
She turned her head, realizing he was still holding her. Afraid he might notice that and let go, she hugged him slightly, as if she wasn't sure of her surroundings yet. His body felt frozen from this intimate touch.
"Yoshi, thank you," she mumbled, hiding her flushed face in his shoulder. "And you called my name for the first time..."
"I-I did? Sure I have done it before..." His nose suddenly itched, but he couldn't move his arms.
"Please, Yoshi," She looked back into his eyes, "call me by my name."
The moment paused. He saw something familiar in those eyes, but he couldn't quite grasp it. The glasses, he thought, were like a barrier hiding what was there. He felt warmth inside, and the way she fit in his arms felt right. But then reality hit him, and he looked away, saying,
"Okay... Em, should I put you on your bed now?"
Disappointed, she knew she couldn't abuse the situation any longer. "I guess. I feel much better now, thank you."
"Yes, well. It was a good thing I was there." He carefully put her on the bed.
She looked up at him once again, "You were going to meet that woman? Did I ruin your plans?"
"Uh, I... wasn't. I was just walking around."
"Why didn't you meet me this week? I felt left out..."
"I had to investigate..." His ears burned.
"Are you lying to me?"
"No, I am not, I am telling the truth! She's just, well...I don't know."
"Whatever," she sighed, "I hope you are happy with your decisions. But... I missed well, spending time together," she added quietly.
"What? Why?" He frowned.
"You are asking me that?" Her emotions suddenly burst, "I am not responding to this, why do I have to explain myself to you? You are seeing some pretty woman there, and I, well, I have been feeling bad. It's not the first time I lost consciousness this week, you know! And you were never there, and so many things happened, and you are just like all the other men, I guess. She looked amazing, I don't compare I guess..." Surprisingly, tears ran down her cheeks, as she talked, fast, stumbling on her words.
Yoshi stood there, startled, unsure how to react. Despite her pitiful look, she seemed cute somehow, yet he tried to remain contained.
"I told you, I wanted to investigate her. She seems to be too familiar, I can't explain it. But she is starting to be suspicious... There is no reason to cry..."
"Oh, whatever! You know, Yoshi," she breathed in loudly, her eyes clouded with tears, "you should go home now. I told you everything I wanted to tell you, and you gave me excuses, so it's getting disappointing. I need to have some rest now, maybe we can talk when you think for a while about what you want to do with your life."
"If you think that's what should be done I'll leave."
"Yes! Go home. I will sleep now."
There was no response. She turned her head rapidly only to see him gone. Now she couldn't stop sobbing, and Belle appeared in front of her, lost for words. She walked back and forth on the bad for a moment, and then said seriously,
"Hey, human, you shouldn't cry over that, maybe he is stupid a bit. He is not worth crying over. I think is not fully self-aware."
"Oh, Belle, I think it's great you are here. I could use some support right now. I thought he might stay to convince me I am wrong, or something, and he left so easily, I am a loser after all!"
She grabbed Belle and continued crying loudly. Poor Crane didn't know how to react, wishing to be let free.
"Hey, hey, don't get so touchy with me!" she said but didn't try to get out of Sora's grip.
"I am sorry, I'll let you go. I need to rest now, I feel so exhausted." Sora patted her eyes. "But I need to wash my face first. Let's talk about today. Did you notice anything?"
"Oh, you got over that fast, huh? And I didn't, because of that cat. She was onto me all the time. I didn't get to see anything! The fur was tickling me, and the smell was too strong!"
"Okay, that's unfortunate," Sora's hoarse voice rang from the bathroom, "Are you hungry? Do you want me to cook something for you? I think we can make a curry soup with eggs in it..."
"Are you stupid? I don't eat eggs."
"Oh, of course, I am sorry, Belle. I won't add eggs then."
"You should give up on eating birds, you know?"
"I guess you are right. It might be slightly uncomfortable indeed."
Belle only scoffed.
"I will make the soup, I need to eat too. Then we sleep!"
"Okay, whatever." Belle sat down on the chair folding her wings, waiting for the soup to appear in front of her. She was tired of today, and she didn't get Yoshi at all. But she didn't know him that well, so who cares?
