Chapter 10:
To the day when I will finally look forward to Tomorrow
He knew too much.
Council member: "The sentence is exile. To be in effect immediately."
It was as simple as that. He was told about them by the exiles right before getting to The Hub.
What are they? Not even the exile knew. But only knowing about their existence was a crime.
Of course, there were many who knew, but they were smart enough to keep their mouth shut. Taro just happened to slip up the moment he got into the city.
"So, what is up with those *them* that I heard about?"
This is all it took for the guard who took him past the barrier to pin him down.
The next thing he knew, he was getting judged for just a simple question.
Taro was a simple man, but his greatest strength was that he had an optimistic view on life. He loved the morning sun, and was happy whenever he got to live another day.
This didn't change even after the exile. Survival out there was not easy, but he never complained. Why is that? Because he was looking forward to something.
"I can't wait to be somebody's hero just like he was to me. Who knows, that chance may even come tomorrow."
He could not get it out of his head. He was infatuated with the person who found him after the explosion. He will be eternally grateful for what a complete stranger did for him. And he wanted to become a hero for somebody. The exact way that person became a hero for him.
And that day finally came.
While on a beach, he saw a person who looked completely lost.
This is my chance. He thought.
He didn't have any contact with anybody for the past year since he was exiled. Always wondering alone, but he never lost the light in his eyes.
Maybe because of this, he got a bit too excited, and scared the living hell out of an understandably already tense person.
?: "AHHHHHHHH"
"AAAAAAAAA"
...
"Sorry for scaring you like that."
It seems the name of the distressed person is Mircea.
Taro felt like this would be a great chance, so he went ahead with the idea that just came to his mind.
"Nice to meet you, Mircea! Call me Hiro."
Hiro the hero. If you think about it like that, you may even cringe, but he loved the sound of it.
Yes, he finally did it, he was finally at the starting like to fulfilling his dream for the past year.
All those days of looking forward to another day seem to have paid off.
But this is just the start. Now I have to make sure he gets to The Hub safely.
...
After telling him the secret that got him exiled, he made a point of telling him that he most not ever mention it.
Or at least he wanted to, but, before he could do it, he saw his body going ahead without him, and then everything turned upside down.
