Chapter 67:
Crimson Power Black Feather
"Are you ready to go to the train station, Sora-chan?" Oshiro's face appeared behind the door to their office.
"Yep," She nodded, putting her backpack on.
Mel's face grimaced the moment she heard his voice. She didn't even try hiding it. "Sor, be careful, I am worried."
"Don't, I'll be just fine. My poster is here, printed, and with no visible errors. I'm prepped and ready to talk!"
"Okay, have a good trip then!"
"Shall we?" Oshiro smiled, charming as always.
"Yep. Sora, see you, say goodbye to Sobue."
Sobue wasn't there though. They left the building and headed towards the subway to the train station.
Sora turned to Oshiro, "Oshiro-san, my friend wanted to see me off, so I hope you don't mind."
"A friend? I see... Well. Okay." His tone was full of disappointment.
They were silent the rest of the way. When they approached the train she saw Maki standing there, with another person behind him. She waved with a poster, and ran towards them happily, leaving annoyed Oshiro behind.
"Maki-kun, you came! I am glad to see you finally. It feels like forever, and this is?" She craned her neck.
"Hi, Sora-san. This is Koga, he is... my boyfriend."
He paused, his cheeks blushing. Koga, startled, glanced at him, eyes wide.
"Wow, Maki-kun, I am happy to hear that!" Sora clapped, causing the poster to fall out of her hands. She picked it up and said, " Koga-san, I'm glad to meet you. I hope we can spend more time together!"
"Mn..." Koga still couldn't look away from Maki.
Maki couldn't face him, so he turned to Sora and lowered his voice. "Well, where is he?"
"He'll come now, he's the one with a black ponytail and glasses, wearing a blue vest."
"I see, okay, I need him to come closer, Koga will most likely be able to tell."
Oshiro approached them slowly. His eyebrow raised arrogantly, and he sized the two men up. "And you are?"
"We are Sora's friends, nice to meet you, Professor. I hope you don't mind us seeing her off." Maki bowed slightly, as he said that. He looked closely but wasn't quite sure. He hoped Koga would be much better than he is. Yet, he still didn't like that guy at all. He seemed sleazy as hell.
"I don't. If you need to talk I shall enter the train..."
"No, it's okay, you can stay." Sora looked at him openly, "I think you shouldn't feel left out, Oshiro-san."
"Mm...Okay..." He seemed puzzled but remained there.
Koga was hiding behind Maki's back, occasionally looking out to observe Oshiro. He sniffed the air and tagged Maki's sleeve.
"Mm, you have something?" Maki said very quietly, his back turned to Oshiro now.
Koga nodded, "He is a monkey."
"I see." He turned to Sora, "I will message you, and let you know what we decide, please be careful there. If you need anything let me know. I think your train is leaving soon, so you should go."
Sora understood, and got a bit frightened, but tried not to show it. She bowed and entered the train with Oshiro.
Maki and Koga remained on the platform for a moment. He glanced back at Koga again, "What do you think we should do?"
"Let your bird daddy handle this. I am unsure which type of a monkey yokai he is. He might be dangerous, but he hasn't tried anything yet. They have been working for some time, right?"
"I guess. I am worried. I will let Yoshio-san know. Also, I will talk to my friend in the police about this guy. He is sleazy."
"What friend?" Koga frowned.
"Don't worry, he is just a friend, and old one. He can help me search for the man if he is involved in something."
"Sure...and old one..."
Maki looked at the ground. "Koga, do you want to return home?"
"Yes, I do in fact! I am done with you talking to and about other people." He pursed his lips.
"Good, you are getting better, if you are becoming sharp-tongued again." Maki grinned, squeezed Koga's hand, and dragged him out of the railway station.
In a short moment, they appeared in Maki's room, still holding hands, the moment led to a bit of confusion, as they were unsure what to do. Both didn't want to let go, and then there was no reason to hold hands anymore. Koga leaned towards Maki, and said quietly,
"So you can teleport us both now?" His fox ears appeared on his head.
"We did teleport to the station too, haven't you noticed that?"
"I was distracted..."
"With what?"
"Doesn't matter." Koga looked at their hands and grinned from ear to ear, "Boyfriend?"
"Em," Maki's pupils were running around nervously, "aren't you?"
"When was it decided?"
"I thought that's what you wanted..."
"I guess it's true..." Koga said quietly, lifting the hand that was intertwined with Maki's. This way Maki hugged him from behind. "I never thought you would say that this soon..."
"After you collapsed yesterday, I thought I would have to tend to you for days again. Why waste time?"
"But I am alright now! And I am happy!" Koga looked up, "I want to kiss you, can I?"
Maki blushed, "I guess..."
Koga turned around and took Maki's face into his hands. He looked into his eyes with all the seriousness he could master. Maki glared back, uncertain how he felt, given he wasn't yet sure of Koga's mental stability. Before he could think further, Koga pulled Maki's face and kissed him delicately. They stood like this for a moment, Maki afraid to act. Then Koga let go and smiled,
"You are a gentleman after all. But I heard you yesterday. You told me everything, it's only fair I admit that I cherish you a lot too."
"I..." Maki felt soft, like jello after the kiss, missing the embarrassing fact that Koga actually heard everything from yesterday's confession. He sat down on the bed. "I am happy then."
Koga settled next to him. "You should write to the girl about the monkey, and also, call your friend from the police."
"Yes, I will. I just need a moment."
"Then it's another opportunity to hug." Koga moved closer playfully.
"Sure, come in." Maki opened his arms, "I like holding you in my arms."
Koga raised an eyebrow, his tone suggestive, "I want you to hold me as close as you can in the future..."
Maki stayed silent, unable to reply, freaking out internally. After some time he put his head on Koga's and took his phone out. Koga's ears tickled his cheek.
"I'll write Sora-san to ask about his full name now."
"Mn."
"Then I will need to call my police friend."
"Mn."
"You will remain here?"
"Mn."
"Okay... You seemed to be getting better, but your clinginess is still... How do I say it..?"
"I know..." He hugged Maki closer, suppressing tears.
