Chapter 6_2

“sir, take a look at this.”

In one corner behind the rocks, they were able to spot some digging equipment that had recently been abandoned.

“good work. With this, we can send the data to the president for him to decide what to do.”

After taking pictures of everything, along with some of the digging equipment which they found in some places, they then made their way out where Wesley and the others who were carrying the victims were waiting before they return back to the origami.

*ring*

“hello this is the Australian rescue unit, how may I help you?”

“hi! This is rod mason responding to your request.”

“really?! Where are you now?”

“were currently on route back to Sydney where I will just drop these victims off at the hospital.”

“seriously? You were able to save them?”

“not all of them. Anyways, the contents of the mission is classified so I can only assure of the safety of maybe the majority of the victims.”

“I see. Thank you rod mason. We will be on route to Sydney then and will arrive in a few hours.”

“thank you. Is this natty drew who sent the request?”

“yes. its really a coincidence that I also picked up this phone!”

“natty? Natty as in cutie natty?” Wesley

“whose that there rod?”

“its me! Wesley chapman!”

“Wesley?”

“your old classmate from elementary school. Don’t you remember me?”

“Wesley the nerd guy? Is that really you?!”

“yeah! How are you natty?”

“hey natty! Are you single right now?!” Stacey intruded

“nice Stacey.” Rod did a thumbs up

“u-umm.. just what is with that question? And who was that?”

As the communications was over loudspeaker, the whole bridge was able to communicate with natty.

“guys, please stop it. your embarrassing me.” Wesley

“oh come on Wesley. Don’t be shy and all.” rod said facing wesley

“hey miss natty! Are you still single?” Stacey asked again as the girls giggled

“u-umm.. yes.. why are there many people on the phone right now?”

“good or you Wesley! You now got your Juliet!” maria

“guys.. please..” Wesley was blushing hard at the situation

“ehem. If you have no more business with me, I will go now to Sydney to the hospital so that I can assess the situation.”

“okay then. We will also be dropping off Wesley here so that he can hitch a ride with you. Will text you with the hospitals location later natty. Bye!” rod said before he signaled maria to turn off the comms

“wai—“

“fight on Wesley!” the girls cheered him on with a smile

“s-shut up! This is seriously embarrassing.” Wesley just sat in the corner on the floor with his hands on his face covering himself

After a few more minutes, they were able to deliver the victims to a hospital in sydney and texted natty the address of the hospital where they also left Wesley there to rendezvous with natty. Before rod and 10 assault team members left, rod gave a thumbs up for Wesley as he also scratched his head on what he should do now.

After that, rod suddenly decided to cool off for a while at the beaches somewhere in south wales Australia after getting some information from the internet. There, the origami then lands just 2 kilometers off from the beach and into the water so that the crew can just boat their way back and forth.

“remember guys! Be back by 3pm Australian time!” rod said as he waves at the whole crew

The whole crew used about 5 life boats and paddled towards the shore where they were attracting a lot of attention. And as they all haven’t spent much on the entire trip all over the globe, the crew still has a lot of money left to buy some materials where the men and women of the origami would buy what they need on the beach. And as part of the experience, rod also had ling and eliya join the crew for a day on the beach.

“don’t you have to go with them rod?” Sheryl said on the strategy table while still reviewing the new list of requests.

“how about you Sheryl, don’t you need some rest?” Stacey said as she was drinking juice from her seat

“girls, lets all just relax for now. We all deserve this break.” Rod said as he sat on his seat

“hahh.. fine.” Sheryl said as she just lays out all the papers on the table as well as her hands to lie lazily on it

With that, they all enjoyed a time of rest inside the origami.

One hour later, someone called them.

*ring*

“whoa!.. hello?” maria said as she was surprised by the call

“hello, is rod there?”

“who is this?”

“this is the Australian president. I want rod mason now.”

“okay.” she then holds the line. “rod, it’s the Australian president.”

“put him on loudspeaker so that we can hear. Though we must also speak only if necessary.”

“got it.” the girls agreed as maria put the president on loud speaker

“yes mr president? Whats up?”

“whats up my butt! Have you guys seen some more people over there at the uluru mountains?”

“uhh... we did save most of them.”

“most of them?! Then where are the others?!”

“we did verify some more life signs out there but we just couldn’t go anywhere near them.”

“what is it now rod? aliens? Please spill it!”

“actually, it’s the entities. We all fought hard to get most of them to safety but we were outnumbered from 3 to 1.”

“fought hard? You could have fought harder than that rod mason! My country paid you good on delivering everyone back to safety!”

“like I said sir, we tried our best.”

“my butt! Your best is not enough! Get back there and get them!”

“like I said as well, were outnumbered by 3 to 1. In short, that’s 40 units to a whole army of entities.”

“what the hell! We paid your company well for this job! Now work your job until you saved every last one of them!”

“well, you only paid about 20,000 australian dollars and we have already saved more people for more than the price.”

“fine! I will pay you more! That’s what you need right?!”

“nope. More importantly, we seriously fought very hard to get all of them out. But the entities were strong.”

“don’t you have those light sabers with you?”

“energy weapons can only disperse the atoms from an entity for only a second. They are also living energy mr president. Is there any way you can cut through energy?”

“yes! with weapons! You got more weapons in store there right?!”

“nope. The best we got are only energy weapons. Energy can only repel or disperse energy and not cut it.”

“then how about bombing the place?”

“wrong move. Even if you bomb the place with an EMP or and energy bomb, their atoms will just scatter for a couple of seconds leaving the rescue work still impossible to achieve.”

“if its just a couple of seconds, cant you just pull it off?”

“nope. That’s really the best that we could do actually.”

“come one guys. There is really a guy that we need whose a really big investor in our country. Hes got branches all over the country which benefits over 10% of the country and they have just lost their CEO. The company is really panicking as there are major losses in imports and exports within the country. He even donates to almost 15% of the total government budget and is a really big investor for the country. If we lose him, our country will suffer major losses.”

“uhh.. I totally have no comment about that sir. But seriously, that’s really the best that we can do.”

“come on rod. you’re a hero right? and you save people.”

“for me, I say that he got what he deserve. And if your still not satisfied, you can review over the data that I will send you about the mission after this call.”

“what?! We don’t need your stupid pictures for this! We need him!”

“mr president, have you already seen the latest video that we have posted?” Stacey

“whos that? Nevermind that. I need answers right now! And video? I bet its still a made up video about ghosts and stuff right?”

“if you have the time to worry about that, verify with the Russian president for the details of the place that we have been at.” Sheryl

“sir, we seriously tried our best there so—“

“your best?! If that’s your best, we could always do better than you! I was a fool in ever trusting you for this job! I don’t need the data anymore and I want a refund!”

“umm.. the money is already spent sir.”

“what?! Then you totally have a debt to Australia now! Pay back our money or never come back here again!”

“well.. we can try to gather some money for you but it would take time. Can you wait until then?”

“arrgghh!!! Rod mason! Why cant you just fulfill one simple mission?!”

“FYI sir, it wasn’t. my mens life was on the line as well. Im just glad we all came back safely.”

“safely?! How come your men are enjoying the day at the beach in my borders ? you call those men safe from harm? I want my citizens by my side right now!”

“hahh.. igno—“ maria

“maria! Shh!!” yukiko warned

Maria just did a face palm instead.

“uhh.. sir, if you really think we didn’t give our best, then you can just take your men on the front lines and take them if they can.” Rod

“what?! Im expecting you to do your job here and this is what I get?! Im never going to use you again!”

“uhh.. sir, this conversation is also recorded and your last sentence seems a bit off. Were also going to submit this conversation as reference material for the mission to the UN.”

“what?!! Damn you rod!! damn you all!!”

“uhh.. we Filipinos are all not like that you know. But if you really want to save them, then you can just do what rod suggests mr president.” flores

“fine! I will do that! I will literally make you eat your own words rod mason!”

The president then hangs up the phone.

“whew.. that was tense..” rod said as he was finally relaxing in his chair

“you tell me about it.” maria said as the girls agreed

After that, they then rested until the promised time. The crew then came back with a lot of souvenirs from the beach where they had lots of fun. Rod explained the current situation and orders them to get ready to go to the next mission.

*ring*

Rod calls on the phone again in loudspeaker on the bridge.

“hello?”

“hi kevin! Its me, rod mason.”

“well, took you long enough.”

“your request was just sent the other day and we were still a bit busy back then. So.. whats the request all about?”

“you know, im not suppose to talk about this on the phone. You don’t know who might be listening.”

“so it’s a secret mission. Just great. Does it involve any gun fights by the way?”

“nope. Anyways, just come here at swarbucks in Washington. I will explain everything to you on the way.”

“okay then. As you say kevin.”

“its colonel kevin. Though if its you, it might be alright.”

“well then my friend, bye for now.”

Kevin hangs up on the phone.

“what does the colonel have to say anyways?” Sheryl

“I don’t know. But it might be very important.” Rod

“yeah. We should get there as soon as possible.” Yukiko

“hmm.. he could have just said something over the phone but as he said, you will never know who is listening. Americans have a huge pride after all.” flores

“umm.. whatever you do flores, we must never mention that in front of any American. It might cause some trouble along the way.” Sheryl

“rod, don’t ever forget to get data on your missions okay?” Stacey

“sure. No problem. Now, on to Washington.”

After a few more hours of travel from Queensland to Washington, they finally arrive at the clear skies of Washington where the origami stayed to get out of the line of sight. There, rod then descends to the nearest sky scraper or building which have an elevator shaft and took the elevator down towards the road where it was full of people walking.

Although he was wearing his armor, he instead wore sunglasses to avoid more attention, he was more like a cosplayer now walking on the streets. He hailed a taxi and took a ride towards the location being texted to them by kevin, at the nearest swarbucks where kevin was drinking coffee wearing his casual attire.

“hey kevin!” rod said as he got near kevin

“what are you doing in your armor?”

“well, its much easier to escape or go back with the armor on.”

“glad for you. Though a big minus for me in both ways. Its also really embarrassing you know to meet a friend in swarbucks wearing cosplay.”

“uhh.. alright then. Though can we get to business here?”

“aren’t you embarrassed at all walking at the streets wearing your armor?”

“nope. I did attract some attention but it’s a bit normal now right?”

“hahh.. fine. Anyways, I may need your help on this rod.”

“why is that? Don’t the great USA have all their technology to depend on?”

“this time, no. just hear me out first, okay?”

“sure.. take you time. Though im never ordering any coffee for this story.”

“okay then. How about I treat you for a cake?”

“deal.”

“okay. Wait her while I order some cake for you.”

Kevin then orders a short cake for rod to indulge while listening to his story.

“it all started at 0900 hour 2 days ago. We investigated some missing persons case right behind mount rushmore when we received reports from a local rescue unit that they just couldn’t find any missing persons there. They said they even searched for 50 meters and found nothing. The mission was then given to me and my men to investigate the abnormalities and rescue any hostages. So I sought reference from your missions and caught to my attention that most of the time you encounter those things are always at night. You also explained many times in your reports that those entities you call it? Are more powerful at night and distortions can only be seen clearly at night as well. so getting back to the main mission, we searched around the place again and this time, about 100 meters. But then, at the back of mount rushmore, we encountered one of those things. For a while, it didn’t seems to attack us but as we got closer to it with our energy guns, it suddenly attacked us and pulled my men. They all struggled to set themselves free but suddenly, a distortion opened up behind that thing and pulled my men towards the distortion. Gladly, I managed escaped along with 3 other men. But after we reported back to HQ, we only got yelled at and the mission still continues. Hahh.. if only we sought advice from you guys earlier.” Kevin then sighs after telling his story

“hmm.. we could help, but it might cost you.”

“what? You guys accept payments for every rescue?”

“well, we live in the skies now and that’s a fact.”

“we? In the skies?”

“it’s a long story. But long story short, stupid people rallying in my house everyday and every night made us evacuate to any peaceful place we could think of.”

“like.. wow. I totally have no comment about that. I couldn’t even relate to your experience.”

“yeah. It may be the first. Anyways, what would you offer as a payment for our services?”

“umm.. how about a years worth of my salary?”

“nope. I have something else in mind. Though I don’t know if it would go through the thick skulls of your generals.”

“alright then, I will try to put up a good word for you with the generals. So what would you like as payment?

At the back of mount rushmore at 0900 hours where rods team descends along with kevin tagging along.

“hey rod, are you sure you wouldn’t need any more help?” kevin said as he was being carried by one of the team down towards the back of mount rushmore

Rod was still without a helmet and only wearing the spectral visor while kevin was wearing full military gear with his energy gun.

“yes. my team and you tagging along is enough.”

“okay then. So are we all searching for them for about a hundred meters like we were suppose to do?”

“nope. We face the entity head on. So where did you meet it?”

“are you sure? We were also no match against it you know!”

“depending on the circumstances, we might lose. But its worth trying than to just do nothing right?”

“so from the very beginning, the mission has a percentage of failure?”

“yes. about 50%.”

“then why the hell did you agree to this mission then?”

“it benefits both of us and nothing more. Besides, all you gotta do is put in a good word for us while we do all the dirty work.”

They have now landed at the back of mount rushmore.

“is this really you rod? I thought that you were more of a hero than this?”

“well, we also gotta earn for a living. But more importantly, im not a hero. Im just a human just like every one of you guys.”

“sir! Were now reading some energy signatures around the place.”

“it looks like its no time for talking. We will talk later kevin.”

With that, rod and the team all readies their energy weapons as the entity slowly appears out the ground.

“rod mason”

“you failure!”

“your don’t deserve!”

“to be one of us!”

“rod, whats that thing talking about?” kevin

“if you haven’t seen my latest video, then your missing out on a lot of things kevin.” Rod

“didn’t that video only say something about you dealing with the entities?”

“hahh.. lets just focus on the job at hand kevin.”

“chosen one.”

“why you save humans?”

“humans have done wrong”

“to all of you.”

The team were all confused but they just concentrated on the mission anyway.

“what did they do great entity?” rod

“you will find out.”

“you will regret”

“you will die!”

“everyone will die!”

“no one is safe!”

“o great entity, please let go of those whom your holding.” rod

“no. guilty!”

“just what did they ever do to you?” kevin

“they guilty!”

“disturb peace!”

“they not like me!”

“they will die!”

“o great entity. What would you require to set them free?” rod

“a sacrifice”

“a life for many”

“your friend would do”

The entity then made a face made of energy and smiled

“what?! There is definitely no way im getting sacrificed. You hear me rod?!” kevin warned rod

“hahh.. o great entity. Would there be anything else?”

“fight me then.”

“you win I free”

“you lose, friend dies”

“humans still free”

“hey! There is still no saving me at all is there?! You’re a hero right rod? you can definitely save them and me!”

“hahh.. I will try.”

With that, rod goes near the entity as well as activating his energy weapons and electric barrier. His weapon of choice for the mission was with the energy sword and energy blades in his armor plating. Then as he got nearer to the entity, the entity immediately strikes rod at the face and rod barely dodges. Rod then tries to punch the entity but it evaded and strikes rod again at the shoulders. The tentacle wasn’t able to hit rod since he was wearing an electric barrier and rod proceeds with a side kick.

The fight went on for a long time where the entity just dodges rod at light speed while hitting rods face on some occasions. After a few more hits, it really weakened rod and his concentration was fading though it has not made rod go down just yet. With every slice from his energy weapons, he was able to hit the entity only to have it regenerate in seconds. After one more hit to the face, rod went to the ground and being dizzy from the fight where he couldn’t stand up anymore.

“rod! stand up rod! you can still do this!” kevin still cheered rod on even if he was already down for the count

Then the entity hovers towards kevin.

“wait! We can talk about this.” kevin then turns his sight to rod who was on the ground. “you want a sacrifice right?! I will give you one!”

Kevin was now very afraid of what would happen to him and of the whole situation that he drew his energy gun towards rod aiming at the head. The whole team was very surprised at this that at the very moment the shot was made, one of the team members immediately covered for rod. as the energy gun from kevin was also based from a sub machine gun, multiple shots were fired towards that team member until he couldn’t also stand from all the pain he endured.

Rod slowly regains focus on his vision and was able to see one of his team fall to the ground where many other team members also covers them both, enduring the rain of energy bullets exploding at their armor. And as the blast would also emit electricity, the whole team who covered for every other team member who went down also feels the pain of electricity going through their veins as they were all being paralyzed like a stun gun.

After many shots being fired at them, kevin immediately ran out of energy bullets from ever magazine he could fire as he inspected. Then as the entity now closes in on him, he immediately trampled at his back where he immediately crawls his way out. As he tries to escape, tentacles were wrapped around kevin thus pulling him back towards the entity where it opens up a distortion just behind it. Kevin then plunged his nails to the ground out of desperation only to find it futile as he screamed at the top of his lungs while he finally enters the distortion.

“as promised.” The entity said after he got near rod being covered with all his stunned team.

The entity then opened up the distortion again and had its tentacles grab the innocent people who were trapped inside into the ground before it disappeared. At the bridge of the origami, knowing the situation, they could only watch as their husband was being back stabbed by a soldier and the whole team going down as they all protect rod.

“damn it! We must get down there!” flores

“no way we can. There is no place to land on and we have no flight gear left!” Stacey

“damn it! What the hell can we do?!” Sheryl said as she slams her fist on the table

“incoming call from the Philippine president” maria

“put him through. We will deal with him.” Sheryl

*ring*

“hello rod mason, are you there?!”

“unfortunately, rod is out right now.” Sheryl

“what?! What happened?!”

“an American soldier betrayed rod and made him fight the entity all on his own!” flores

“though it might also be an entity that controls distortions, I don’t know. Either way, rod shouldn’t have fought it alone!” Stacey said as she cried staring down the floor

“I really don’t understand but can you relay a message to rod as well?”

“yes, what is it?” maria said as the girls at the bridge were very upset over what is happening to rod

“tell him to come to come to the UN immediately! This is urgent! We really need to discuss something of importance and rod mason might be needed!”

“alright sir. As soon as the whole team is able again, we will all go there immediately.”

The president then hangs up the phone.

After 30 minutes, the whole team was now able to stand up slowly and rod was also able to check up on the team even though he was still a little bit dizzy. After they finished checking up on themselves, they all returned towards the origami which was just hovering in the skies. As there were also some of the team members which had their mobile flight controllers fried from the series of EMP blasts from the energy bullets, only some of the team members were able to fly towards the origami as well as go back to the ground to get the others.

Rod, on the way back, was accompanied by 2 of the team members even though his backpack was still functional since he was still feeling that dizziness as an effect from fighting the entity. They then got rod to a stretcher where he rested and one of the team members reported to the bridge on rods condition. After the last one of the team was aboard, they then flew towards the UN building in America where all of the world leaders were all assembled already.

“rod! are you alright?!” kaori said as she got word and ran straight to rod

“just alright. I might need some rest for now.”

“yes. rest for now and regain your strength. I will be here right beside you. The girls are also worried but they let me take care of you for now.”

“okay then.”

With that, rod slept throughout the entire trip.

there was then a woman, a merchant, who has travelled far and wide all selling goods and trade. she was renowned to be a good trader who always has the attention of the people as she fascinates them with her items for trade. she was also from a far away land where it was rich with water and bounty of the sea. During her travels, she would always remember herself with her husband in bed though as she could not bear any children, she instead became a merchant to help with her husband with their kingdom.

She also remembers their place every night in her travels, places with many big stone monuments and buildings where trade and food flourished throughout the kingdom. But then during in one of her travels, she heard of a rumor that her husband was dead and the whole kingdom had vanished into the sea in just one night. There, she tries to come back to her place only to find it gone.

Far and wide, she then searched of a way to bring back the dead as there were many rumors of things and places of power where it might bring back the dead. After years of travel and searching, she eventually became a magician at a royal palace where she serves the king. And there in one of the stories told by merchants from afar where one civilization would build buildings so tall that it would reach the gods. Then with the support of the king, she was to build a very tall tower where it would reach the heavens to speak with the gods.

For years she waited for the tower to be finished but as she was now almost at the end of her time, she climbed upwards from the unfinished tower carrying a sacrifice. Since magic would sometimes require sacrifice especially for big magic, she believed it would be required so that it could bring back her long lost husband from the dead. There at the top of the tower, a thunder storm roams in and struck her at the top of the tower along with the entire tower itself.

She fell from a very high place along with the baby and died on the ground. From then on, no one ever spoke to everyone, including the king. Belief that she was being punished by the gods and of the horrors of everything she ever have given to the people all vanished.

Rod then woke up breathing heavily with kaori at his bedside. Then he remembers the story that was being shown to him in the dream and remembers her face. That throughout the years of searching for a way to bring back her dead husband has left her insane inside that eventually led to her demise. Then after a few more minutes, rod was able to walk again though still a bit fluttery, and being accompanied by kaori towards the bridge where he told the girls about his dream and to still keep it a secret. this also sent a bad feeling to the girls as they all kept their guard for the incoming future.

When rod was finished explaining to the girls, they have now arrived at the UN where rod, being accompanied by one of the assault team, just arrived at the end of the meeting. And on the way, rod bumped with president dutuer when he was on his way back.

“hey mr president. Whats the rush?” rod said to the president after bumping to him

“rod mason. Good timing. Come with me.” Dutuer said as he takes rod along as he walked the hallway

“you invited me here sir. Whats the problem?”

“where the hell have you been? Though that doesn’t matter anymore. The meeting jut ended with all the world leaders agreeing to use their nuclear missiles.”

“what?! Please explain to me the details sir.”

“just recently, US observatories have observed a meteor coming to earth. For now, the meteor is still at mars where its on its way to earth. In 2 more days, it will hit earth killing millions.”

“is it an earth killer sir?”

“yes. the guys at NASA also said something like that.”

“how will the world leaders move with this?”

“for now, Russia, china, and the US will send their nukes to space before the rockets will ignite and hit the meteor while its still on its way to earth.”

“how do they know if it will work sir?”

“it will. Because they will all be sending all their nuclear warheads to space leaving no nukes behind.”

“I just hope it works. How long can they prepare all of them and launch them all into the meteor?”

“the NASA guys said that they will just simply launch the nukes past the toposphere where the NASA space station will arm them and refuel all the rockets before launching again.”

“hmm.. simple but yet effective. So where are we going now?”

“im going back to my office to see what will happen. The Philippines can do nothing in this situation anyways. How about you?”

“same as you, though I will just be going back to the origami and watch via satellite feed on what happens”

With that, they have gone their separate ways though both are still heading back to the Philippines since rod had no requests at the moment. Then on the next day at 0700 hours US time, rod saw on the monitor of the launching of all the nukes around the world. News stations also never broadcasted any news about the launch and the situation as to avoid any public panic. After a few hours, all the nukes reached past the toposphere where they were being refueled by the space station just floating around. Then some more hours later, all the rockets were fueled for space travel and armed to explode on impact.

“sir, is this alright? Were just glad that this space station was not destroyed but our systems were all hit by the virus that was bounded through every satellite that time. Our systems are still recovering for Christ sakes.” One of the astronauts said as they float inside the space station from one point to the other.

“we got no choice. An earth killer is on its way and this is the only way to destroy them. At least we can help save the earth.”

“the people will surely be happy down there without even knowing that an earth killer was on its way.”

Then with their guidance chips, every of the 8 satellites all guided the nukes towards the meteors which all of them hit on target as they saw a gigantic explosion. But after a few second of clearing the ash clouds, they saw that the meteor wasn’t affected at all.

“sir! Hit was confirmed but the meteor isn’t fazed at all!”

“sir! Maybe there might be 2 comets all along which our satellites wasn’t able to detect.”

“damn it! If only all our satellites weren’t destroyed in the first place! Give me the president on the phone!” the general said as he observes the situation at a NASA control center

After calling the president, the world leaders then readies themselves to announce the arrival of a giant meteor coming to earth in less than 1 more day.

“hmm..” rod was thinking as he observed all of the events at the bridge

“damn it! The nukes all hit didn’t they?” flores

“yes. it certainly was a hit. What will happen to earth now.” Stacey

“we still have hope girls. maria, call the research facility to ready project exodus.” Rod

“what?! You know, the project is still about 5 percent complete! With the materials right now, we couldn’t make any progress at all with the project aside from using recyclable trash.” Stacey

“how many ships do we have?” rod

“about 5. Though one more was just done recently so that makes 6.” Stacey

“great! Lets all do this!”

With that, maria called the research facility to ready project exodus while all the world leaders got ready to make a speech to reveal the truth to the public. After a few more hours, they finally arrived at port Sistine where every Excalibur was hauled at the top of the origami. Every Excalibur was also installed with project delta force as per their plans. And at the same time as the world leaders speech, the origami delivered every Excalibur just above the stratosphere where all excaliburs were to wait just a bit past the toposphere.

“rod, are you sure about this?!” Sheryl said on the bridge as they were delivering the fifth Excalibur into space

“yes. who on earth could have lead my team out there in this time of crisis?”

“I agree. But do promise us rod.” Stacey

“yes, I will. Now lets go and pick up the last Excalibur. Failure is not an option in this mission right now.”

The space station were also very worried on what might become of earth by that time until they saw the Excalibur floating by, adding itself every hour past. The astronauts then reported back to the NASA control center about what they saw. Then during the speech with the US president, a man in black reported to the president on what the space station saw.

“what?! Show the feed to me now!”

“sir, are you sure? Your still on a speech.”

“I don’t care! The world is going to end anyways!”

Then they brought a TV into the speech room and plugged the feed from NASA into the TV to now see 5 excaliburs in space.

“what the hell is rod mason doing now?!”

“we don’t know sir.”

“I hope he knows what hes doing.”

After a few more minutes, the last Excalibur rendezvous with the other excaliburs with rod on it. During the loading of the Excaliburs into the origami, rod and the team was presented with new titania suits along with some new backpacks as well since before they left for japan, they already ordered to make new suits for the team. Then the whole assault team along with rod blast off towards the meteor forming a perimeter around it.

Around the time when they were about 100000 kilometers from the meteor, all other world leaders caught wind of this and started to show the feed from NASA as well in their speech rooms.

“damn it rod! what are you doing now?!” dutuer said as he watched the feed just right after his speech.

Then an incoming transmission came for the world leaders.

“dear world leaders. By the time you hear this, I would now be heading towards the meteor trying to save the world. Anyways, I don’t have time to explain the plan so you might as well watch the whole thing.”

Then the transmission went out and the world leaders were seriously doubting if rod really knew what he was getting into.
“hahh.. this isn’t like taking on ghosts you know. How the hell would you destroy that? We even have no more nukes left!” US president commented at the video

After a few more minutes, rod and his team arrives near the gigantic meteor forming a parameter around it. then a rocket was sent to the face of the meteor with a built in mini pac set to detonate in a couple of seconds. Then as the rocket struck into the meteor sticking itself like a rod, the mini pac was activated and particle acceleration began.

At that same time the rocket hit the meteor, they have achieved the first phase of the mission and turned back boosting away from the meteor. Then the mini pac went off making a mini black hole which is sucking the meteor inside it. but at the same time, they also noticed that it was gradually increasing its size ahead of schedule.

“sir, the black hole is gradually increasing its size.”

“damn it! it must have been the nukes!”

“probably sir. Using the image captured from around the meteor, it seems that it was a part of a maybe medium sized meteor. There might probably be a second meteor that was flying ahead of this one.”

“I remember Stacey saying something about black holes. That the more energy it absorbs, the more it will increase its size.” Rod said as he was remembering something. “all hands! Prepare for plan b! release the second wave now!”

“yes sir! Releasing the second mini pac now.”

With that, another rocket was sent towards the direction of the black hole where it was already set to set off in 10 seconds. They were 50 kilometers away from the mini black hole that they have created when they stopped to launch the next rocket with the mini pac. then in 10 second, as the rocket was now near the mini black hole, it then set off slowly building up energy to form a mini black hole after a few seconds.

“with this, the 2 black holes will eat each other while eating the meteor thus negating its increase in size.” Rod said as he smiles for victory

After a while, the 2 mini black holes have now sucked the whole gigantic meteor leaving only a very thin crust of the once gigantic meteor while the 6 excaliburs all fired their laser cannons to break down the rest of the meteor. Then once most of the meteor was sucked by the 2 black holes, the 6 excaliburs then readies to fire the installed big laser cannon at the 2 black holes eating at each other.

“shooting alignment match! Shooting range clear! All green!”

“no planets in line of fire sir!”

“fire!” rod said with raising his hand forward pointing at the meteor ahead

They then fired all 6 huge laser cannons at around the 2 black holes, leaving it without any space to expand any further. Just like what they did at geneva, they overload the 2 black holes with too much energy that they can feed from their size thus sealing them right on the spot after 5 more rounds of recharging the cannons. Since the cannons would also release built up power aside from the power being generated by a medium sized iron heart.

The fragments of the meteor was then repelled by the magnetic force of the earth thus changing their trajectory though other fragments enter earths atmosphere only to be melted away while others were being shot down by every countrys missile.

After that, the 2 black holes were gone and sealed up and the 6 excaliburs then went back to earth where the origami was waiting for them just above the stratosphere. One by one, each Excalibur was taken down back towards port Sistine starting with Excalibur 6 where rod was in it since Sheryl demanded it.

With that, the whole world had nothing to say as earth evaded total destruction. The world leaders were also given with the video feed and status reports of the mission by rod as they were about to get the other excaliburs. Of course, the world leaders had nothing to say to rod for the moment because of his bravery.
