Chapter 308:

Lover of the Russian queen

En Passant Grandmaster

Despite there still being 6 players left, things were looking bad for them. Inez had been given the chance to play as White, but went with a Bird's opening, pawn to f4, which Rasputin responded to with pawn to e5. Inez took the pawn with her f-pawn, and after pawn to d6, filled her belly with more pawns as she captures said pawn with her e-pawn. This time, Rasputin captured back with his bishop, but after the seemingly normal move of knight c3, Inez went pale.

"It's mate in 3... FUCK!"

Indeed it was, for after queen h4, g3 was forced. Rasputin had long since captured the pawn at g3 with his queen, leaving poor Inez to wallow in sorrow as her clock ticked down.

"Fucking bastard! This isn't fair! We're all exhausted and need to recharge, yet he spooks us like that... FUCk!" she tearfully thought as she begrudgingly captured the queen at g3 with her h-pawn, allowing Rasputin to capture said pawn at g3 with his bishop, winning the game.

Now there were just 5 players left, one being Glaiza Quitoriano, who had been one of the three to first charge Rasputin and had been faced with the English Opening of c4. Glaiza was ready to bust a gasket as she stared at her board. She had responded with b5, resulting in said pawn being captured by Rasputin's c-pawn, but that was according to plan as after a5, e3, a captures b5, and bishop captures b5, rook a5 was on the board.

"Heard your dumbass got shot 3 times back in Moscow. Well here's a 4th one," Glaiza snarled as Rasputin approached her, moving his knight to c3, before turning back around. "And here's another one for your back," Glaiza smirked as she captured the bishop at b5 with her rook.

"Tell me, woman, do you believe in rebirth?" Rasputin asked as he leaned in close and captured the pawn at b5 with his knight.

"Not for you, or any of the asshats I've taken down in my merc career," Glaiza scoffed as she flipped off Rasputin while moving her pawn to g5.

"All bark," Rasputin scowled as he moved his knight to c3, and turned his back once more.

"Bang! Another one for your back, ya Russian warlock," Glaiza chuckled as she moved her pawn to f5.

Rasputin's evil smile returned as Glaiza had indeed fired a fatal shot... at herself. "You'll bleed out from the shot in your foot. Checkmate!" he cackled as he moved his queen to h5, winning the game and causing Glaiza to go pale with horror at her blunder.

"I got too into it... DAMMIT!" she fumed as Rasputin moved over to another board.

Ethelreda seethed with fury as she found herself in Rasputin's clutches. She knew of his infamy, and playing with the white pieces, had opened with pawn to d4, which was met with pawn to e5.

"The Englund gambit? Perhaps he's losing focus with all he's playing," Ethelreda thought as she captured the pawn at e5 with her d-pawn.

Queen e7 seemed to back up this theory as Ethelreda confidently moved her knight to f3, and continued to grow more confident after Rasputin moved his knight to c6. Bishop f4, and Rasputin already appeared to be desperate, moving his queen to b4, a feeble attack easily countered with bishop d2.

Rasputin scowled, capturing the pawn at b2 before heading off to another board for seemingly greener pastures.

This new board was occupied by Swedish women's candidate master and streamer, Agneta Cronholm. She was the final member of the original quartet that had been thrust into the game, and had been faced with f4, the Bird opening. She had responded to it with f5, and when faced with e4, captured said pawn with her f-pawn, but was left thinking after Rasputin decided to move his pawn to f5.

"Hmm, I think that's a misstep, but how do I counter?" she thought.

She thought so long, she nearly ran out of time, moving her knight to c6 with just a second to spare. "Shit! Now Queen h5's coming, but I just go g6," she thought as Rasputin returned.

If he had made any other move, Agneta would have lost on time, but he showed mercy and moved his queen to h5, allowing Agneta to play g6. He even captured said pawn with his g-pawn, allowing Agneta to captured said pawn with her h-pawn, and lose the game.

"Checkmate! You'll remember that longer than the internet will!" Rasputin laughed as he captured the pawn at g6 with his queen, winning the game.

Next it was onto a board occupied by Greece's Evangelia Oikonomou. She also had the white pieces and had opened with c4, to which Rasputin responded to with e5. She mirrored with e4, the King's Pawn Opening: Whale variation, to which Rasputin scoffed at and moved his knight to c6 before dancing away.

Evangelia had long since moved her pawn to d3, and had hope she might win due to Rasputin having seemingly forgot about her game, but Rasputin was coming and went knight c6 with only 4 seconds remaining. Evangelia attempted to wait for Rasputin to leave, however, all the remaining players were now bunched up so close, Rasputin could reach them all just by walking in a small circle.

Worse, Rasputin knew exactly how to handle her, and after she moved her pawn to d3, bishop b4, check spooked her into blundering into mate in 3 via king e2. Now it was all forced, as knight d4 forced king e3, queen g5 forced f4, and queen captures f4 was mate.

"No! I'm sorry!" Evangelia cried as Rasputin returned to Ethelreda's board.

He took notice of the fact Ethelreda was not only smiling, but had also moved her bishop to c3. "Oh, that paid out well," he thought as his grin widened while he moved his bishop to b4.

Ethelreda didn't waver though and moved her queen to d2, prompting Rasputin to capture the bishop at c3 with his bishop.

"And queen takes, queen takes, and knight takes. You got greedy for my rook, pervert," Ethelreda thought as she confidently captured the bishop at c3 with her queen.

"Greedy you think? I take what I can! Checkmate!" Rasputin laughed as he moved his queen to c1, winning the game and leaving Ethelreda dumbfounded.

"Two to go!" Rasputin declared aloud as he slowly walked over to the one remaining game.

This game had started off with Rasputin moving his pawn to h4, and his opponent moving her pawn to e5. But this game was different from the others, a fact only made clearer after c4, d5, c captures d5, queen captures d5, knight c3, and queen c6 had all been played. This opponent was not easy pray, and would require more work, which is why Rasputin had saved her for last.

"Well here I thought you ditched. Bald, browless, lashless women not your type?" the woman smirked as she crossed her legs and stroked her smooth bald head.

"A woman's a woman. And a bald woman is one of highly submissive tendencies," Rasputin glared as he moved his knight to f3, with just 2 seconds to spare.

"Living off an increment. Well, you are a cat that really was gone. But that ain't good enough, to beat da Zzez," the woman smirked as she moved her knight to d7.
