Trees. And more trees. Behind the trees, a mountain range stretches out in the distance. I wonder if it's 'natural' or man-made? More trees. I think back in the day, humans used to rely on trees to produce breathable air. The trees are swaying, there's rain incoming?
"Dad, i think it's going to rain"
"Uh oh, that's not good news. Don't worry! I'll manage"
"No i mean... there won't be any sunlight for solar power..."
"For your little robot buddy right? You should have asked me sooner! Here you go, have my portable charger"
"T-thanks dad" "..." "I forgot to charge it before leaving. You always have to wake me up so early"
"Well sorry for that dear, but if i didn't we wouldn't make it there on time"
"Or... you know, try using the Teleportation Orb for once? Actually never mind, yeah, I know, teleporting kinda defeats the purpose, but how about taking the monorail?"
',Are you not enjoying the scenery sweetie?,'
"I mean... I kinda do but... I just feel like both you and dad don't seem to like modern technology for some reason" "Well except for the fact it's not even new technology. I don't know. The world is just, unreasonably complicated"
Plink
"Well, what can i say? I just I like having control of the wheel, be my own driver, ahaha"
Plink, plink, plink
"And it seems that other people are starting to agree with me! This road used to be so empty, it was as if it was only built for our family to travel on, but look around honey, now other cars are passing by every now and then"
Plink, plink, plink, plink, plink
"It's not that i want to waste our time by choosing such an old mode of transportation. Of course it'll be entirely up to you to choose how to live once you're all grown up, get a house across the stars, venture out into the universe, it will be your own pursuit of freedom"
Plink, plink, plink, plink, plink, plink, plink, plink, plink, plink
"I just... want you to live a human life. A life not feeling troubled by littlest of inconveniences. A life every single one of us deserves to have, but most don't. After all, we have all the time there is to live, there's no need to be hurry" "I just don't want you to end up like me, like the rest of us. With our veil of mortality shed away, so too has the humanity our species were always bounded to"

The light rain has quickly turned into a downpour, raindrops pounding on the car window. Now i can't even observe the view from inside the car. And the rain is starting to make me feel cold, maybe it's just my imagination. I guess i like it? The cold is making me feel weirdly warm. Sorry for not making sense aha. Oh right, you can't talk to me, still charging up. Maybe i should talk to my parents more some time. But i'm just gonna take a nap for now

Dad isn't driving as fast because of the rain. I guess people do like rains. Even i'd like to imagine that plants need water to thrive. Am i really lucky for being able to think so? It's already a thousand-year-old modification, but they allowed plants to grow and absorb the essential minerals on their own without needing water or sunlight. A short amount of time after that, after humanity had learned to control the weather to our liking, they got rid of rain, there was no longer a need for it. This decision sparked a public backlash, leading to the return of rain. The rain that doesn't necessarily quench the thirst, the rain that doesn't necessarily give rise to life, the rain that unhesitatingly stains any surface it touches. The rain that, as a result of it, dad has to drive pretty slowly now, and yet, it feels right
