Chapter 2:

First steps of Making Magic

The Death God's Otherworldly Adventure

Thesis, exuding confidence and ambition, said, “Creating a new planet is easy, but to introduce magic, we'll need to craft an entirely new dimension. Otherwise, the world will collapse under an external power.”

Thanatos pondered for a moment. “What about using Hugh Everett III's multiverse theory to create a separate world? Destroying this one isn't an option—I want to bring some souls from Earth into the new world for a true isekai experience. Plus, the other gods wont like me destroying the world so soon.”

Thesis considered the possibilities. “A multiverse, huh? Intriguing. We’ll need to make some adjustments to the space-time continuum, but it’s not impossible. Give me at least astral days to create the multiverse. Meanwhile, you can provide me a rough idea about what magic truly is.”

As Thesis left, Thanatos delved back into human fantasy and magic genres. “Magic can be used in two ways: casting spells using mana or drawing magic circles with mana and mana ink. We could also embed inherent skills into souls, but that can come later.”

Through trial and error, Thanatos discovered something resembling mana. “I’ve used a lot of stored souls and its close to enhancement magic. But Mana should be a supernatural energy, not life force. Using it shouldn’t deplete the user's life. I need an alternative source.”

With his failures, Thanatos stared at the faint glowing substance he had created. His shoulders slumped with disappointment. “This isn’t it... It’s just a shadow of what mana should be. If only it didn’t drain the life force.”

But then, a spark of hope flickered within him. “It’s a start,” he murmured to himself. “I might not have it yet, but I’m closer than before. There has to be a way.”

While Thanatos wrestled with the concept of mana, Astralis, the Supreme God of Knowledge and Innovation, paid a visit.

With an ever-knowing smile, Astralis said, “Thanatos, I see you’re up to something fun. Mind if I join this innovative endeavor of yours?”
